DALLAS, Texas (WFAA ABC 8/The Dallas Morning News) - Police are questioning a 15-year-old boy in connection with a fire at a Lake Highlands apartment complex Tuesday morning.
The fire, which investigators believe was intentionally set, heavily damaged one building at the Sutter's Wood complex in the 7100 block of Skillman Street near Walnut Hill Lane. Among those displaced was Patricia Dukes, who lost her home to Hurricane Katrina.
After the blaze began in an empty unit around 8 a.m., neighbors alerted one another quickly, and everybody escaped.
"We were asleep ... we didn't know what was going on," resident Keisha Nims said. "Me and my kids, we came out, [and] there was fire everywhere."
The Red Cross has found apartments at the facility for the six families who were displaced.
