Will S FL get below 45 degrees this winter

#1 Postby boca » Tue Dec 13, 2005 12:37 am

It's becoming more of a rarity too even get temps in the 40's across S FL at night. When I was growing up we had many nights in the mid to upper 30's those days are gone.I'm talking about mainly SE Florida because you can subtract 5 to 7 degrees over SW Florida having less influence to the Gulfstream.

Could be a few days in the low 40's...

I live in Columbus, Ohio and our high for the MONTH of December has been 35, with most days being 25-30 (average high on 12/14 is 42 degrees) ... next week looks even colder.

Don't you ever wonder how the north does it? :)

I agree, they were calling for a low of 44 or so 2 nights ago but it only got down to 48, and it rapidly warms during the day due to the sun. I don't see any more temps below 50 for the rest of the year, so we basically have January to get down below 40(maybe Feb. if we're lucky). I remember in January 03 for a straight week or so the high's were in the 50s to low 60s and the lows were in the upper 30's, and it was cloudy out.

Winter is just beginning......Absolutely there will be a chance for lows
below 45.....

Last year the official low at my house in Pompano was 37 one night in January 05..This year that is...

I remember the freezes paricularly in the 80's.....Christmas 83, and 89
were below freezing for a few nights each...Actually Ft. Laud bottomed out
at around 28 - 30 degrees...

When it is that cold in the burbs of SE Fla lows in the Everglades can bottom out at 20, maybe even colder....

I spend one week every year on slopes out west....It is there that I get
my snow and cold for each year....Otherwise I love it when our highs are in the 70's and low's in 50's and 60's

Just remember: January and February are historically colder than December. Don't get discouraged...

A few nights in the mid 40's in central Florida earlier this week, but your right Boca, you guys in South Florida haven't seen many shots of really cold air for quite some time.

I also just recently read where the NOAA long range outlook is leaning toward above normal temps and below normal precipitation for Florida.
