Makes you wonder if it's due to the release of methane which was stored in the frozen peat bogs which are now melting due to GW. Or is it due to the extremeley steep ridge over Greenland causing a deep trough over western Europe thus producing a very amplified jet. Have to wonder with that much warming in Siberia could it trigger a see-saw effect and push that -40 deg air into northern Canada if the NAO stays this negative all winter.
