If that's the case, then we should have known in 1960 that a hurricane was going to hit New Orleans on 2005 August 29. We knew in 1960 that the sun was going to be darkened by an eclipse over China on 2009. We knew in 1960 that a long eclipse was going to occur in Mexico on precisely 1991 July 11. So I made plans for it, and traveled all the way to Baja Cal. in Mexico to see that eclipse and photograph it on 1991 July 11. This is because the stars and planets' movements can be accurately predicted from a long time out.
There is no way that the weather in 2005 could have been predicted in 1960 or 1970 other than to say maybe there would be more and fiercer hurricanes because our factories and automobiles were belching forth greenhouse gases, without any specifics; we can't even predict weather five weeks in advance. If weather is determined by stars and planets and if I had lived in New Orleans, I would have moved out by 2005, just like I traveled to Mexico in 1991.
There may be a lot of problems with the GFS model, but I would pick that over the stars and the planets to predict weather.
