We haven't seen an Artic front in Florida Forever

#1 Postby boca » Thu Dec 22, 2005 10:32 am

Their hasn't been a good Arctic cold front here in Florida since I could remember occasionally here in S Fl we might get below 50 for an hour or so, very boring time of year.

Yes Florida has been warm over the last few years. I remember when I lived in Orlando back in the 90s and then again in 2001-2002; we would have hard freezes occasionally and we would not get out of the 40s on some days. Then, when I lived there most recently from 2003-2005, we didn't get a high below 50 or a low below 32 for both winters. I also remember that I would see on TV that frost and freeze threats would occasionally occur down in S. Florida. May be your luck will turn around for you this Jan/Feb.

What is the dry season? My area is above average in rainfall for this time of year in southeast Florida! It is has also been unusually warm in winter (and rainy) in southeast Florida for the past few years, starting around 2001 or 2002. It has been getting warmer and warmer in winter since then, as well as moister.

Nothing like the 80's around here....however 2 years ago we were at
32 degrees on a January morning at my office in West Ft. Laud. Last
year we had a few evenings in the 40's, and like I said in previous post
had a temp of 37 at my house in Pomp this past Jan.....

Right now it is a very pleasant 55 degrees.....This is just fine....
I'll get the annual ski trip in next month for my yearly cold and snow....

Don't worry though I am sure another cold event will catch us when we least expect it..who knows?

I think the last time an "arctic" cold front has ever made it to Florida was in the 19th century...

If you want an arctic cold front, try another state. It's almost like going to McDonalds wanting a burrito...

What you ought to do is plan a vacation to the N.C. Mts. , and rent a condo and enjoy the snow.........We as a family enjoy the different atmosphere...........JSB

OR just pack your bags and come to canada in the winter. Almost guaranteed for arctic air, cold and snow.

Yes, back in the 1800s, rivers in Central Florida would freeze regularly over the winter months.

Do you think this is because of a cycle?

Well... back in the late 1800s, there were numerous records of near or below zero (°F) temperatures.

Similar to 1985, but 1899 was more widespread.
