It is hot and raining down south today

#1 Postby beachbum_al » Sat Dec 24, 2005 9:22 am

No snow here unless things changed drastically. It is hot and raining here in Fairhope. Very muggy feeling. Nothing like last year. Of course I would love snow. Who wouldn't on Christmas but it is not going to happen.

Huge difference between this year and last.Last Christmas Eve the high temp in Pensacola was only 36 (some areas in the panhandle didn't even make it above freezing) and there was scattered sleet/flurry showers. This year the high today will be near or at 70 degrees with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could even be severe.

We're pretty stable up here(no severe weather)... but still, a far cry from this freezer we have been in for 3 weeks.

Today...Partly sunny early in the morning. Showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs around 56. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.

Tonight...Rain in the evening...Then a slight chance of rain after midnight. Lows around 44. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.

Christmas Day...Mostly cloudy. Rain likely. Highs around 50. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

I wouldn't call a high of 50 warm...but certaintly not cold enough for anything but rain. Look on the bright side though, here in SE Texas we are expected to reach the upper 60s on Christmas Day!

I consider 50 to be "cool". Above 60 would be considered warm this time of year.

I woke up this morning to thunder and a torrential downpour. What an odd Christmas eve I thought! No matter the weather it's still Christmas and I hope everyone has a good one...and the best in 2006.

The Christmas weather here now: Sunny, breezy, and cool, temps in the upper 50s. Not bad...

A far cry from last year, when we didn't get above freezing and we had a half-inch of snow on the ground....

...and last week, when we didn't get out of the deep freeze (aka the 40s) it seemed, basically till Friday...

We're having a soggy Christmas - it's rained for two days.
Could change to a mix, tonight. If there's any flakes that
fall, I'm sure I'll miss them....Zzzzzzzz....!
