#1 Postby boca » Sun Dec 25, 2005 3:00 pm

NOT MUCH IN THE WAY OF COLD AIR IN SIGHT AS
TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN NEAR CLIMATIC NORMALS THROUGH THE PERIOD.

This was taken out of the Tampa Disscussion here on Christmas day.Don't start jumping off the deep end that winter's just starting I'm just posting what I saw. It's 82 degrees here in Boca Raton I'm going swimming. The pool is heated.

Temperatures have been above average in my area in Boca Raton as well recently, unusual for this time of year. Shower activity and precipitation in my area so far this winter has also been more than normal and unusual. Do you agree, boca?

After a cloudy and rainy morning, it sure turned out to be a nice day. My great nephews were out in shorts and t-shirts throwing a football around. Just as everyone was ready to leave we had a five minute shower. I thought it was supposed to be windy and a cold front move through, but I haven't seen any sign of it. It's seven thirty and I went outside and I didn't need my robe. Pretty balmy for late December. The garden is beautiful and the tomato plants are loaded with green tomatos. The black eye peas are bearing like crazy. All this rain sure has helped. Everything is lush. If we don't get a little cold weather, I don't think the Azaleas are going to bloom.

It will be getting cold tomorrow night, probably coldest temps of the season for us here. Forecast to be 44 here.

Looks to be no more cold air for the next 10 days... wow. But I think it will get cold, and perhaps significantly cold, in mid-late January. Thats what usually happens.

You can add Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and a bunch of other states to that list.

We've had decent cold weather. It's been warming up during the day quite nicely but that's par for the course down here. We really don't get cold until sometime in January and February.

Wow it actually broke the 40* mark last night at the OIA. 36*. It is 42 at my house right now at 9:00 this morning. Finally got a good blast. Seems like we get our first freeze sometime around the 1st week in Janurary. About the time my Christmas lights are down. Other wise I would leave them on to provide heat to all my topical plants. Hopefully not too many freezes here this winter, I sure hate taking in and covering all my plants. A few times is cool, and I can set up the sprinkler to make ice for the kids.

My area has finally got several sunny days now, much colder weather, and much less stalling fronts! Can't count on it keeping up because of the way things have gone, but hopefully it will!

Joe Bastardi from accuweather is calling for a low to reach AT LEAST 28 degrees in both Orlando and Tampa by the end of January. So do not worry....it looks like winter will return for the sunshine state. If this does play out...it will be Orlando's first "official" freeze since 2003. also, with lows at or below 28 in central Florida...it looks like a frost or freeze threat will also occur in southern Florida. Stay tuned...the next 10-30 days may get interesting for you guys.

Sounds interesting. But I have to say, I do remeber making icicles for the kids last year with the sprinkler, so I know it "offically" froze once, maybe twice. But it was a mild winter last year.

Yeah when I lived in Winter Park last winter I did record a few freezes at my house, but by "official" I mean the readings taken at the Orlando International Airport. At the airport, the coldest they recorded last year was 33.
