Yup - heading to a friend's party in a little bit. Time to say Good riddance to 2005! Image

It's only about 7 miles from here but too far to walk.

Our friend's party was cancelled... something about flu. So... I will be ringing in the New Year at home!

:uarrow: Yep, my dog is doing the nervous pace, as well.
I'm glad that I fed her before the noise started - she would
not have touched a bite of her supper!

I'm staying home - I decided not to venture out the 20 miles
west to my friends' house - I am just TOO tired and lazy,
tonight!

it's behind us now..but we kept it simple. Ate lunch at KanPai @1:30..an excellant Japanese restaurant. We then packed up her pocketbook full of snacks (yes..I'm one of those who refuses to pay theatre prices for candy) went off to the movies at 5:30. King Kong! My wife actuallly liked it, which surprised the hell out of me. Can you believe she had never even seen either the original or the 1st remake?

Back home by 10 PM before all the drunks hit the roads. In bed, and asleep before midnight.

j - same here, as far as refusing to pay movie theater snack prices - they're outrageous! We sneak in candy too, skip drinks, get sips of water at the fountain before and after the movie. As it is, first run movie ticket prices are high! What they charge for snacks and drinks is highway robbery...just about! For 25 cents more you can upgrade that $3, 12 ounce soda....to a whopping 48 ounce size. LOL I'm exaggerating of course but you see these overweight people carrying huge liter sized sodas and mop bucket sized containers of popcorn to their seats. And then they wonder why their diets aren't working.....

Okay, enough rants from me.

We had a quiet New Year's Eve.....oldest daughter had a party for 8, alcohol free in case anyone's wondering......that was our one rule.....had my brother-in-law over. Hubby and him flipped channels all night, I made 2 batches of caramel popcorn.

All in all, a quiet night. I was ready to say goodbye to 2005. Ring in 2006!

I wasn't totally innocent. Along with the snacks, I had my wife smuggle in some JD to mix with one of their $3 dollar cokes. Still worked out to be lesss than a mixed drink at a bar.

j smuggling in liquor? LOL

Well, I have allowed my kids to have an occasional $3 soda.....one trick I have is to ask for very little ice, that way you end up a lot more soda. They fill the cup to the brim with ice, then soda, topped with fizz. When it all settles you have 3 or 4 good gulps!

I make sure I get a re-fill, even if I don't really want it. I told me wife she is going to have to start bringing a bigger purse to the movies so we can pack plates, and silverware.

My New Years Eve did not go as planned at all. I spent most of the night very upset. I made plans to go out with a co-worker of mine. We had these plans for at least a month. I got off work that day at 1:30 p.m. and she got off a half hour later at 2:00. I told her I was going stop off and get something to eat for lunch. Then, I was going to another co-workers house to take a nap, then take a shower over there and get ready. Because I live nearly 20 minutes away and did not want to make 2 trips to town. She said okay and she said she would meet me there around 7 p.m. 7:00 p.m. comes around and no Heather. So, I don't panic just then. Just figure she is running late. By 8:00 p.m., it was obvious that I got stood up. Her cell phone service was shut off. So, I tried the only other way, I could get in touch with her, her boyfriend's cell phone. Kept getting the voice mail over and over. I was highly upset. Because 2 week-ends ago, she did the same thing. And did not talk to her until 2 days later at work. But, then she apologized and said she left work early that day sick. And she meant to call me to tell me she was too sick to go, but fell asleep. So, I forgave her and gave her a second chance! And here she is doing it to me once again! I waited until 9 p.m. and she still did not show up, and never even tried calling me. I was already ready. I was already dressed, did my make-up, straightned my hair, everything! So, at 9 p.m., I left and went drive to the Daiquri shop and got me a Hypnotic Chill daiquri. Then, stopped by a friend of mine's house. Hung out there until almost 11:30. Then, convinced my friends two younger sisters to go out with me. They are 23 and 21. But, I am 29, so not that big of a deal. We could not make up our minds where to go. Every place was charging a $10 cover charge. We finally went to a club in downtown Houma and paid the $10 bucks to get in. We did not walk in the door until 11:45. At midnight, everyone was making out. And of course, we did not have anyone to kiss. Every year since I can remember, I had someone to kiss at midnight. I guess since I did not get kissed this year, it is a bad sign for the rest of the year, right? LOL. Nothing but drunks out. We did not have a very good time. Did not know anybody there. Should of just stayed at my friends party and saved my money. I am still very upset with my co-worker Heather because I thought we were good friends. And I did not think she would stand me up a second time. So, I am basically ready to end the friendship because I will never trust her again when it comes to making plans. She still has not called me to explain or apologize. I think it has a lot to do with her boyfriend. They only been dating maybe 2 months at most. But, he is already possesive over her. He gets upset everytime she mentions hanging out with me. And they always are going to choose their boyfriend over me! I lost so many friends because the minute they get a boyfriend, they kick me to the curb! Well, that is how my New Years Eve went. It is just going to be awkward when I see Heather again at work. Because I really don't even want to talk to her because I am so upset with her.

LOL! How about a picnic basket....he he

There's a local 7/11 type store just down the street from one of our largest movie theaters, over 12 screens. More than once we've stocked up on candy, plopped it all on the counter to be asked - what movie are you going to see? This store makes money off people like us!!! One of the clerks told me people buy individual soda cans and drink them in the theater too.
