A topic by Mike Seidel at TWC.....
Just saw a new topic started by Mike Seidel on The Weather Channel Forum, titled "The Weather Channel's Message Boards":
His message reads:
>>>>There have been complaints about posters straying off the discussion topic.....
Just a friendly reminder that The Weather Channel's message boards offer our users a forum to share opinions, questions, and comments about weather-related events and topics. This particular board's purpose is to talk about The Weather Channel with other fans.<<<<
Poor Mike, he's trying to restore order. Whatta guy! Wish we could sway him over to our side.....

I think, that if TWC had a message board with an off-topic, like storm2k does, they'd probably find that everyone would post the "non-weather" topics on that board, just like we do here, and then we wouldn't upset the hard core weahter people......and TWC might find, they'd have more participation in the weather forums, from the not so hard core weather people.....its kinda like the old addage...about starting conversation about the weather, and then when you have nothing else to say, you can at least talk about the weather. I think weather is a great topic for people to begin and end with, and of course if there is very exciting stuff going on....it may be the main topic for the day, but come on.....can anyone really talk about the weather just 24/7?........I think that's why there is an off-topic board here, because the people here know that that isn't possible, and we all need to blow off a little steam....otherwise.....and as for Mike Seidel, well I know he's just doing his job......by the way, furry, does he still make your kitten toes curl???

Completely missed that Moderator status under his name. I will say Mike has always had an excellent rapport with fans and message board members. I wish him well and agree, it will be an uphill battle. But I'd like to think since it's Mike asking for cooperation, and fans can put a face with a name, it just might work this time? Or am I just being naive.....

Big Dave might be getting himself on thin ice. God bless him, but he doesn't back off from a good (or a bad) debate. That's just my opinion, I love the guy.
Some people there seem content to discuss which OCM is pregnant, what they're wearing, local forecast music, & etc. That's always been a pet peeve of mine. Can't you tell?

Actually,
TWC's message board DID have an off topic Forum at one time. It was their elimination of that Forum and the Admin response to it that led to the Exodus from TWC to here (and in some cases elsewhere). Even major posters who were not banned left in disgust (as I did). In actuality, why I didn't get the boot is a mystery to me-I can only assume that it was the way I phrased my complaints which obviously sailed right over the heads of the powers that be that was the reason-despite the fact that they were dripping with sarcasm.

I'm sure that there are some people from TWC trolling these boards. I don't understand why I would've been banned since I hadn't posted anything negative on that board - only here. Actually, some of my last posts there were praising them for their coverage on the severe weather outbreak at the beginning of the month.
Hey, if their definition of quality is discussing pregnant OCM's, dress codes and the endless flaming that has been going on there as of late (aka WWBB), then let them have it! Their Severe Weather forum has been a joke this year - hardly anyone posted about that outbreak. That's because they chased all of the people that actually knew something about the weather or wanted to learn about it away. They totally blew it!
