Soccer Parents Upset Swinger Party At Same Hotel
Soccer Parents Upset Swinger Party At Same Hotel
POSTED: 2:16 pm EST January 3, 2006
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Some teenage soccer players and their parents saw more sights than they wanted when they stayed at a hotel where about 200 swingers were having a New Year's party.
Paul Camporini brought his wife, seventh-grade daughter and eighth-grade son from Safety Harbor and said he had to "delicately explain to my Catholic school children that swingers change partners during the evening."
"My biggest gripe is that the hotel had two distinctly different groups under the same roof," said Camporini, 49. "A soccer team and middle-aged swingers should not have been booked together."
The families said the sexually adventurous partygoers sometimes flashed breasts and bare buttocks in front of the children as they sashayed through the hotel atrium. The parents described the dress at the Crowne Plaza Hotel-Airport in Orlando as "raunchy, despicable and worse than prostitutes."
"We thought we were coming to Orlando, not the Las Vegas Strip," said Mark Gilbert, the father of a boy who plays on the Clearwater Chargers, a group of 13-and-under players from Florida.
The teams booked the $92-a-night rooms for Disney's Soccer Showcase, and said hotel management did not tell them about the swingers' party or try to keep the partygoers away from the children.
Hotel managers did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment Tuesday. All of the swingers had checked out of the hotel by late Sunday.
"We're not prudes by any means," said Rob Young of Greenville, S.C., who said his two daughters, Leah, 13 and Lauren, 11, asked questions he struggled to answer. "We would have liked to have been informed when we checked into the hotel so we could have made other arrangements.
"The kids could see through the glass atrium into the ballroom where naked people were dancing. There were exposed breasts, thongs and see-through dresses on women who were not wearing any underwear."
Young said he complained to hotel management and to John Hollis, an off-duty Orlando police officer hired by the hotel for a New Year's Eve security detail. He said neither did anything to help.
Lt. John Mina, a watch commander for the Orlando Police Department, said Hollis didn't witness anything illegal.

If you think about it, what other group could you book with this swinger convention group? I can't think of one. Unless the stuff industry holds conventions.....oh, that was harsh.
I suspect someone at this hotel wondered why a soccer group and their parents were booked during the same time frame the swingers group was. But that person was either ignored or afraid to speak up.
And I also suspect it came down to revenue - cha-ching, two large groups meant more rooms full.

Terrell - I was going to say that too, they are consenting adults, what they do on their own time, if not harming others is okay with me. But the hotel should have had the simple decency to inform the soccer players/parents of the swingers group. Period!
LOL - at the stuff Convention.....won't touch that one again!

Didn't watch Keith Olbermann tonight at 8 (I usually watch, he's pretty funny), watching the 3 Penn State vs 22 Florida State game, will catch it when it shows again at midnight after the Fed Ex Orange Bowl goes off.

My biggest problem with any of this is the fact that the people who were exposing themselves in front of th ekids and for that matter the adults were not dealt with in the manner they should have been-they should have been arrested!!! Consenting adults behind closed doors is fine with me, but not public display for shock value!!!

It could be that the person taking the reservations for the soccer team didn't know about the swingers. They could have just booked the party room and the swingers were on their own when booking their rooms. You can also book a bunch of rooms online also. Now i do find fault with the hotel for allowing the swingers to expose themselves.

LOL @ Shawn. I think of Swingers as an old fashioned 70s term too. Old fashioned, that's ironic! The movie The Ice Storm comes to mind, they had a key party. That 70s Show had a key party too but Kitty ended up taking Red's keys. I loved that twist.
I wonder if there's a new term for it. And you'd think with Aids and all, people would be freaked out to do this sort of thing nowadays!

Thread hijack - "The Ice Storm" was a bizarre movie. Couldn't really get into it. Does Christina Ricci ever take a "normal" role? She definitely likes those out-there characters. "Monster" took the cake.
The director, Ang Lee, also did "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," "The Hulk," and this year's apparently surprise hit (which I have yet to see) "Brokeback Mountain."

C. Ricci has been in a few bizarre movies. For example, Pecker was one. Quirky but we got into it. In an off beat, almost documentary way.
Believe it or not, to pull this back into a wx board discussion, I really thought The Ice Storm was going to be wx-related! With a real ice storm and all that entails, rescues, family members frantic for word from eachother. LOL All I remember is the older female lead, was swapping with someone's husband, in a car, during the ice storm. Hubby looked at me and said - some movie Mar! Yep, it's sure wx related too...I think he stopped watching. It never got better either!

See right there, I don't remember that scene. I remember the key party, the car scene hearing freezing rain hit the windshield and windows. And you're thinking - that nekked romp better be worth it lady....who was she again...I'll go look it up. I want to say Warren Beatty's half sis....wrong, it's either S. Weaver or Joan Allen. Forgot Kevin Kline was in this movie too. I wonder what they were all thinking during filming - what the heck project did my agent talk me into here? LOL
One more *edit* and I'll stop. Katie Holmes was in this movie too!
