LAKE WORTH - An off-duty Tarrant County sheriff's deputy and several motorists rescued twin toddlers from a busy highway Monday after their mother took the girls out of a car that then sped away, police said.
The girls were placed in a foster home by Child Protective Services, which will ask a judge today to keep them in foster care while it investigates the family, CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner said.
Lake Worth police plan to seek two charges of felony child abandonment-endangering today against the 24-year-old mother, Detective Dave Tatsak said.

OMG, again is right! Used to be people left animals along the highway...something I hate....but children now? I would think if this police officer didn't stop many other drivers would have. I know I would have! In a heartbeat.
We need to put all these wacko parents (the washing machine lady too) on a desert island and watch them try to survive. No wait, I wouldn't watch but say good riddance.

Actually
the best punishment would be to take them out to the Organ Pipe NM right on the Border in the Summer. Point out the direction to the nearest town (about 100 miles distance or so) and then make them walk BAREFOOTED and without water across that Desert landscape in the HEAT of the day. Guaranteed that they will never make it as the hot ground will literally burn their feet off. There's a Bibical name for that place in Summer-starts with an H.
