SF, I'm so glad to hear that he's doing better and now he's home. I'll continue to keep him in my prayers. You have been such a wonderful son throughout this...you both are very lucky to have each other.

A couple of nurses are with him right now while I get a chance to eat lunch...I'll be learning how to clean his trach tube in just a bit ...

I don't want to know what "WTF" means cause I think I know. All the same, this experience (along with the great news about raine and Dakota) just proves that PRAYER WORKS!!!!!

When I get the chance, I will be doing so. I have been real busy caring for him today ... and it seems that providing the care he needs is just as hectic as work...and just as aggravating. I have to be patient with him, and I understand his temperment isn't subtle, however, I managed ... it's a hell of a lot better than what I go through with the management team at James Island P.O.

I came up with another saying special for them as well ...
I don't like things riding up my @$$. If I did, I'd wear a thong!

Anyway, my father is getting stronger and we were able to get around a little bit more today ... We're working on getting some things installed for his benefit ... Right now, also he has not made a decision about retirement just yet ... We're going to see how the recovery process pans out.

However, one thing that continues to irk me is that the doctor who did the vocal chord procedure is so incompetent, and still continues to do operations/procedures ...

I cannot even begin to tell you how many things wrong this doctor has done and caused ... I know that we're supposed to forgive and forget ... but the fact of the matter is, my mentality cannot allow me to do neither ATT, because of the fact that this doctor is still continuing to work as a doctor and furthermore, almost claimed the life of my father.

Hang in there, Storm - cleaning a trach may look difficult,
at first, but, you WILL be able to do it, and, do it well! I'm
so glad that you're Pop is better!

The nurse today said I did an outstanding job on it today ...
He had FOUR nurses in here today ... the physical therapist around 11:30 am. The nurse and a nurse learning about tracheotomy tubes/cleaning as well (as me), and the occupational nurse (what a HOTTIE!...*LOL*).

I had an embarrassing moment as well ... I tripped over the occupational nurse's foot and almost fell ... she caught me and got her hand around me before I fell (as I also grabbed her around the waist). Too bad, she had a rock on her finger the size of Texas!...Just my luck, eh!
Anyway, I said, "So this is how I get a pretty woman to put her arms around me ... Man, I've been doing this all wrong!"...Everyone laughed.

I'm extremely tired from today...just as hard as working, but even more so sleepy than usual ... I really have to give a lot of credit to the nurses who put in these long hours and especially the very fine nurses that have cared for my father ... in which, most of my father's nurses have been very, very good. Unfortunately, there were a few bad ones as well, which we requested different nurses immediately ... and we never saw them again, as well, as that doctor, who my father flat out refused to ever see him again.

I would be mad too. One time I had a latex allergy reaction, and the doctors wrapped it with an ACE bandage! Well ACE bandages have latex in them. Talk about a mess-up! If you thought I was upset before, you shoulda seen me when I found out!

I understand 100%. That kind of mistake should never happen, especially in this day and age, Jeremy. Believe me, when I also found out the comment that doctor made to my stepmother that Wednesday morning I rushed my father to the ER, had I been standing (or my stepbrother), I flat out would have DECKED that doctor ...

He told my father's wife and my stepmother - and I quote - "With all the problems he's been having, why are we trying to save him?" ...

It took quite a lot of reserve and temperment on my part NOT to just walk up and flat out DECK that S.O.B.

Wow! I would have decked him, it sounds like he didn't really care what happened. I mean to act like someone's very LIFE doesn't matter... that would make me sick to my stomach. It would just make me sick.

Quick edit... another time I can remember was during a hospitalization in Oct. 2000, the hospital was said to be latex free. WRONG! The nurse on duty left a latex glove on my bed, when a note on the board on the end of the bed said "latex allergy" in capital letters. Capital letters! Man was my mom ticked!
