NWS long range temps still above normal for Texas,SW,S.Plain
At least through Feb at the minimum.....

I never trust these long range temp. forecasts. They are usually wrong. Also, they will never start hinting at cold for the near term until usually after the cold air has arrived. I think it is pointless to look at these long range temp. "ideas" (because they are not really forecasts...just a good "idea" about what "may" happen), because rarely are they ever perfect.

They are not really forecasts...they are probabilities...and you are right...they are usually wrong.
They are pretty worthless and are basically made based on continuity and not any actual forecasting. They are one of the most worthless products the NWS puts out.
