Question: You've been lacking in the Lost scoop lately.... Got anything for us? — Erin
Ausiello: Gathering intel on our favorite castaways has been my primary goal this past week, Erin. But trust me when I tell you it has not been easy — particularly at the Globes, where the cast was basically threatened with bodily harm if a spoiler made it past their lips. Still, I managed to glean a few morsels out of 'em. Among them:
* Yunjin Kim revealed that Sun will get another flashback episode this season. "We start shooting it next week," she said, "but I haven't seen a script yet, so I don't know what happens."
* Dominic Monaghan confessed that "it looks like" Charlie is hitting the powder again and offered this preview of next Wednesday's Charlie-centric outing: "We're going to be seeing a lot of stuff about how Charlie is responding to the rest of the group pushing him away."
* Matthew Fox (Jack) hinted at a possible return next season for one of Lost's MVPs. "There's a rumor floating around that J.J. Abrams is very excited about coming back to the show next year and working very hard on it." (For more breaking news on J.J., keep reading.)
* Regarding rumors that a new female castaway would be washing ashore in the coming weeks, Yunjin pleaded ignorance. "I haven't heard that," she maintained, before joking, "We can't have, like, a young attractive girl… no! We've got to keep Lost girls the way it is." (Note: One of my moles has since confirmed that a new character is about to be introduced, although he/she refused to give me specifics on this person's age or gender.)

Lost-related article on Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin.
http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/01/1 ... index.html
Jin's growing on me now, didn't like this character at first but now he's part of the group. And he wanted to go look for Michael! I love how the writers portray a character in a superficial way, you peg them, but find out they're okay deep down. I was just beginning to like Shannon too. Wait, does this mean they'll kill Jin someday? I hope not!

You know what? I felt there was a piece missing in the whole storyline last night between Sarah and Jack. I am not sure what it was, but it just didn't seem right to me. Maybe I was just expecting something different rather than the classic boring contrived story about cheating. Hopefully there is more that will be exposed later.

Garrett - there's probably more. Who she leaves Jack for is important I think. And I'd like to confirm Jack told someone his wife "died" or just she's "gone". Gone meaning she left him. Which would mean she's still out there, if she didn't die. Didn't I read somewhere that a woman washes up on the island soon? Wouldn't it be something if it was Sarah? I'm really reaching now....that's what this show does to you. It makes you think......it drives you nuts at times too.
I used to want Jack and Kate to end up together. Now I'm not so sure. But I don't want Ana Lucia with Jack - no way!

Body washes up huh? Interesting. In Jacks flash backs when he was taking his father back, I didn't see any woman with him at the airport and hotel, but that doesn't mean much. Seems like a few bodies would have washed up by now, but I never really thought much about it. But the way he says she is gone, has me thinking now too, because if someone where to keep that sort of thing to themselves(a loved one on the plane that did not make it to shore) it would seem Jack would. Never heard about the body washing up thing, now I am so curious about that. Try to remeber where you read that Mary, was it a thought of someones on a forum, or from a write up? Now you guys got me thinking about Sarah a little more.

It's the above article sunny posted that I actually posted a link for the other day. Just a rumor but stranger things have happened on Lost! And actually if you read that possible spoiler, it says a female castaway, so it's not a body. As in alive. Which would make the Kate/Jack/Sawyer/AnaLucia thing more interesting! A 5 way.....wait did I just say that? LOL
I am still thinking about this show today. Watched the scene where Alex shoves Kate into the circle and Zeke holds a gun on her. All you see is Alex's arm. Can't tell if that's a girl or guy, but I think that's meant to be Danielle's son? Or was her kid a girl?

I don't think Sarah was with him either. But what if she felt bad about what happened, and bought a ticket. Sitting in a completely different section. Also his dad's body was on the plane and if she was having an affair with her FIL, maybe she'd want to be at his funeral? Wait though, Sarah would have been back in the States, not Austraila.
Well, there are many holes to that theory!!!!
All I know is this - expect the unexpected when it comes to Lost. And that's the best part about Lost - you have no idea what will happen. You can't peg this show, it's not a soap, it's a drama but then a sci-fi drama, at it's best. It seems to require it's own category.....LOL

Yea I thought of that too. But I am just not buying it.
Affair with the dad Mary? Interesting thinking.
But ya know I was thinking about something. Remeber when Jack got there(Austraila) and got to that room at the hotel didn't he ask the maid about his father, like he was still alive when he got there, and he picked up the bottle of pills by the bed. Is my memory right there? And the fact he had such a hard time getting his fathers body back on the plane. Seems like if his sole pupose was to retrive his fathers body he would have made arrangments for all that before he left to go. Was his father dead when he got there? I am thinking no. Am I right about that back story of Jack?

Kelly - now you bring up very good points. In answers to your questions, yes it was implied that his dad was still alive. I think Jack went there as a favor to his mother and also b/c he felt responsible for his dad's career downfall and sliding into drinking again. He went there to retrieve his dad. But didn't expect him to die.
His dad is a real piece of work and for some odd reason, I can see him consoling Sarah while Jack spent another late night at the hospital. Telling her Jack was crazy not to come home earlier. One thing led to another.....didn't they also imply his dad fooled around on his mom?
So no I don't think his dad was dead when he got there. Jack was just trying to figure out where to look for him. This was when he was in that bar with Sawyer drinking....

Okay, I thought so, for some reason my thinking had started to sway like he was DOA, but he wasn't. Yea I rember that ghost, sounding like he had drink in his hand shaking the ice in that glass. Spooky. I now wish I had all the episodes on tape or DVD. You forget all these early connections, like Sawyer having a drink with his dad, so actually Sawyer was one of the last people to see him alive. Maybe Sara was in Australia with dad?
No I doubt it, just thinking out loud. This show will drive you batty thinking.
I love it!!!!

Or maybe Sarah was back at the hotel room she shared with Sawyer, when he was drinking in the bar with Jack's dad!
This show does drive you batty but I love it too.
It is confusing b/c they've given us these flashbacks, but not all at once. For example, my daugther Laura and I caught up with all but 7 of Season 1's episodes. ABC skipped 7, I'm still a little upset with them for doing that! We knew some of Kate's backstory but were missing chunks. Why she was arrested in the first place, etc. I remember asking you all and I know for certain sunny, is that last episode before the 2 parter Season 1 Finale that important? Yes was the response we got. So up to Blockbuster we went. After viewing it, Laura and I both said - oh okay, so Kate just blew up her stepdad and his house, but he was actually her bio dad......so confusing. But necessary to understand her character too! It made sense, a little, why she was comparing a recovering Sawyer to her stepdad. And he replied with why did you kill me? Creepy stuff! If we hadn't seen that ep with Kate's complete backstory, we would have been even more confused.
Do I want them to air each character's backstory, in one complete airing, no. That wouldn't be as fun as they're doing it now.
But it does make you wonder when are they actually filming these backstory scenes? Did the actors come in early on, as Season 1 was being filmed, and filming all the backstories, at once? Or is the actor that plays Jack's dad still currently employed and hanging out in Hawaii? I get too picky with this stuff, I know. For appearance and continuity, I'd imagine they filmed all of these backstories in the beginning. But, did they film enough to last for several season? If not, do they need to bring these actors back and what if they have other jobs and can't commit?
I need more coffee if I keep thinking like this!!! he he
I just remember Jack was wearing a bad wig as Sarah woke up from surgery. And subsequent backstory scenes show him as he looks now, buzz cut (which by the way, how is he keeping his hair so short on the island).
I love this show!!!!

Sara and Jack's dad - now wouldn't THAT be a good twist!!! The few flashbacks they showed of his dad in Australia didn't indicate there MIGHT be someone else with him. I'm gonna have to look real close! I was still astounded by Sawyer's meeting with Jack's dad in the bar.
Kel - my niece bought me the first season of LOST on DVD to cheer me up after Katrina. I sat there and watched them back to back one Sunday! Mary will ask me to check something from time to time
lol - Mary, you and I were posting at the same time! I'm going to watch that episode again when I am finished with my "Saturday chores" to see if I pick up on anything.

Hey Mary... if I understand correctly, those characters that are in flashblacks like Jack's dad are on recurring status, which means they only air occassionally. I imagine they fly in when they want to air a particular scene and then leave if there isn't one for a while. I know that in one of the scoops you posted recently, they mentioned that Sun was getting ready to film another flashback scene, so I assume it is done that way.
