Did you get to record Cat 7 though?

BTW - any advice on what type of DVD recorder to buy? I'm hoping to get one after the holiday. I want to archive all my VHS stuff onto discs.

I have an RCA DVD Recorder/VCR(if your gonna be transferring VHS, this is the EASY way to go, it's a lot of unnecessary work otherwise) and love it, although it does have it's issues(likes to freeze up some and you have to unplug it, and I have lost a couple of discs), but I think it has more to do with the product being new and not having all the kinks worked out. Just go with a well-known brand name and you should be fine. Do a lot of online research beforehand(that's what I did and when I actually went to buy it, I wasn't lost or confused).

As for Category 7... I could have recorded it on the other TV(I record Desperate Housewives to DVD live), but decided not to, just because last year's version was so awful I didn't want to waste a disc on it.

Mega-hijack (because I wanted to continue where we left off instead of starting another thread:

Brent, next question -- do you connect yours to your cable/satellite receiver? Or does yours act as a receiver also? I have had a DVR for a couple of years now. I am this ( ) close now to getting my DVD/VCR recorder and I was just trying to figure out how I'd set everything up or if I'd move the receiver to the bedroom or what.

Thanks!

I'd like to know too. I bought a Sony DVD Recorder last summer and it's still in the box. It was a great deal so I didn't want to pass it up. I have a lot of VHS tapes and camcorder tapes that I want to put on DVD. Like you duckie, I now have a DVR receiver since I got Dish and wasn't sure whether to just replace my VCR and it would work that way and still play/record on tapes if I want. I rarely use the VCR now, only if I am recording something to give to my sister to watch or something like that.
Btw, I love the DVR!

I don't have a DVR... but you just connect it like a regular VCR with the cable into the back of the DVD Recorder.
