Snow in Hawaii!

#1 Postby cctxhurricanewatcher » Tue Jan 24, 2006 1:57 pm

Yea I've heard of this before. But evidently this event was worth mentioning. Is this more snow than Arizona has received this winter?

Snow on Mauna Kea is not unusual at all.

I'm surprised that kenl hasn't tried to run with this one considering how the news reports hyped this. Actually, it has actually snowed at low as 8000 ft in HI in the past with the summit of Haleakala at 10k getting snow on occasion when there's an especially cold Kona Low.

Yep... it isn't very unusual on Mauna Kea's summit and slopes.

Not unusual considering that webcam is at 13,000 feet above sea level.

On the beach at sea level, it was 80 degrees. 8-)
