I am not a big global warming guy, but geez it has been warmer than it used to be in winter. DCA for example hasn't had a avg monthly temp below 30F in January since 1948. Before 1948, they had 8!
Also,
40F+ avg January temps: 1871 - 1948 (77 years): 10
After 1948 (58 years): 11 (including this year)
Also some hope for 2006, 70% of the time when the avg in Jan was 40F+...the following Feb was cooler than January.
25% of the time it was at least 5F cooler

Yeah... Reagan National, right in the heart of the city.
It's actually not in DC, but rather across the river (right on the opposite shore) in Arlington. Used to be in DC before Arlington and Alexandria were given back to VA a long time ago.
Definately cooler than other readings from in the city because of the proximity to the river.
