This is not good. I think Israel is trigger happy. Now, they will find a reason to nuke Iran. This is not good at all.

Not trigger happy at all... if Iran is going to have nukes, then they have a darn good reason to nuke them(and I really don't think it would be that, it would be a "take out their facilities in airstrikes").

Syria has the capability to send missiles with chemical warheads on them.If Israel or the US goes after Syria too, this could escalate into nuke war.Remember Iran's leader recently had a meeting with the leader of Syria. I think they have a defense plan together when the bombs start dropping

Israel has had nuclear weapons for about 35 years now, and they haven't gone "trigger happy" with them yet. Even in the Yom Kippur war, which was going quite badly for a while, they restrained themselves.

I have no fear of Israel making a nuclear strike before the absolute extremity of their imminent destruction.

Iran is certainly a worry - and the world cannot afford to simply ignore the problem. But the best information I've seen suggests that it's a matter of at least several years before they get to the point of being able to produce a weapon. That's bad, but it's not to the point of desperate.

Matt-hurricanewatcher wrote:What was it again after Katrina the record? So is this going to make the gas prices jump like they did after Katrina.

I think it was like $70.35 or something like that. However, right now (Jan) is a period of low consumption so the actual gasoline prices will probably lag a bit. As consumption goes up in the spring gas will most definitly rise.

Iran Threatens Full Uranium Enrichment
Jan 23 11:24 AM US/Eastern
Email this story

By GEORGE JAHN
Associated Press Writer

VIENNA, Austria

Iran will immediately retaliate if referred to the U.N. Security Council next week by forging ahead with developing a full-scale uranium enrichment program, a senior envoy said Monday.

The comments by Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh, a senior envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency, reflected Iran's defiance in the face of growing international pressure over its nuclear program. Enrichment can be used in electricity production but it also is needed in making uranium-based nuclear weapons.

Separately, Iran's top nuclear negotiator planned to travel to Moscow on Tuesday for a high-level session as talks intensified surrounding a proposal to have Iran's uranium enriched in Russia, then returned to Iran for use in the country's reactors _ a compromise that would provide more oversight and ease tensions.

Ending a 15-month commitment, Iran removed IAEA seals from equipment Jan. 10 and announced it would restart experiments, including what it described as small-scale enrichment _ a move that led key European countries to call for an emergency session of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency's board of governors Feb. 2.

The Europeans also began drafting a basic text for a resolution calling for the Security Council to press Tehran to reimpose its total freeze on enrichment and "to extend full and prompt cooperation to the agency" in its investigation of suspect nuclear activities _ though it stops short of asking the council to impose sanctions.

Soltaniyeh, in comments to The Associated Press, warned against referral, suggesting such a "hasty decision" would backfire.

Whether Iran's suspension of its full-scale enrichment program remains in effect "depends on the decision of Feb. 2," he said. Asked if that meant Iran would resume efforts to fully develop its nascent enrichment activities if the board votes for referral at that meeting, he said, "yes."

Iran insists its nuclear ambitions do not go beyond wanting to generate fuel, but concerns are growing its main focus is trying to make nuclear weapons _ something more than three years of IAEA investigations have failed to prove or disprove.

More blah, blah, blah talk from Iran.As long that they talk are they want and not use arms it's ok.

Were Israel to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran would respond so strongly that it would put the Jewish state into "an eternal coma" like Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's, the Iranian defense minister said Wednesday.

"Zionists should know that if they do anything evil against Iran, the response of Iran's armed forces will be so firm that it will send them into eternal coma, like Sharon," Gen. Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said.

TEHRAN - Iran said on Saturday it would launch medium-range missiles if attacked and accused Britain and the United States of arming rebels in its south, as international pressure on Tehran over its nuclear plans grew.

“If we come under a military attack, we will respond with our very effective missile defense,” Yahya Rahim Safavi, commander in chief of the Revolutionary Guard, told state television.

Western states suspect Iran of secretly aiming to build a nuclear bomb. Tehran insists its nuclear facilities are intended to produce only electricity.

If they throw the missles then retaliation by Israel will be strong and let's then pray that war does not break out in that region.

Iran's answer to compromise efforts not satisfactory: Rice
Jan 30 11:48 AM US/Eastern

Iran's answer to international efforts at compromise over its contested nuclear program is "not a very satisfactory one," US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said.

Threatened with referral to the UN Security Council, Iran is calling for more time for negotiation, but Rice said Tehran has shown its true face since being given extra time in September.

The Iranians have "responded by breaking their moratorium (on uranium enrichment), ending negotiations and breaking the seals on the equipment so that they could enrich and reprocess," Rice said Monday.

"I think we've had our answer from the Iranian government. It's not a very satisfactory one," Rice told a press conference in London.

Things are starting to get somewhat testy between Iran and the U.S.Let's see if the U.S,UK and others send Iran to the security Council for discussions of sanctions.

Alex post that Iran test information at this thread to not have repetition of threads about Iran. :D

The rumor is that Iran will carry out a nuclear experiment in March...
Published: 1/29/2006

Teheran is getting ready to counter a “preemptive strike” by USA and Israel. The Air Force Command of the Revolutionary Guard has ordered its Shahap-3 Missile Units to keep their mobile missile ramps in motion in preparation for such an attack. Responding to this order, in darkness of the night the primary missile ramps have been moved to Kirmanshah and Hamedan, and the reserve ramps to Isfahan and Fars regions.
The above actions are the basis for the efforts of the USA to attract Russia and China, as well as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to its side, and for commenting that a military intervention is always on the table. These actions are also the basis for Israel’s overt preparation for a possible offensive action and for making authoritative announcements that it “will not permit Iran” to proceed with its nuclear plans. Suddenly, all these activities have created a renewed global atmosphere of war. They are spreading anxiety and paranoia.
