China's Year of The Dog (Sad and disturbing)
I think we all know the Chinese eat dogs. How many realize how cruel and inhumanely they treat them? They skin them alive for their fur to use for clothing. They are said to torture dogs before killing them in the mythical belief that it inhances the flavor.
The Chinese are barbaric.Something should be done about the way they treat those precious animals

Do a little research on how veal is raised.

And yes, there are animals that are skinned alive in the US, though cows generally are not.

It is part of Chinese culture. Just like we eat beef, they eat dog. I would never agree with it were I to see it done here in America, but if they keep it to themselves in China I am fine with it. An example of another situation like this would be India. We eat beef, but to them beef is sacred and they would never eat it...same concept. Also, I think you should do more research on them torturing dogs before they eat them to enhance flavor; for some reason it sounds a little like an added twist by American animal activists.canegrl04 wrote:I think we all know the Chinese eat dogs. How many realize how cruel and inhumanely they treat them? The important thing to remember is that cultures are different, but the Chinese people are no more "barbaric" than we are. We choose to make odgs pets, but that does not make it inherently more or less immoral to eat a dog than to eat a cow or a chicken. It's just unacceptable within our society.

Well I don't think the Chinese are barbaric, but it is true that dog is considered a delicacy in China. I don't know about torturing dogs to enhance flavors I have never heard about that.
Likewise, now if we replace man's best friend with chicken instead of dog, will we stop eating chicken? And start eating dog? After all, doesn't the U.S. eat thousands of pounds of cow, pig, chicken, fish, and lamb every day? Different cultures do different things.
BTW the Chinese also consider frog and snake a delicacy as well. They eat almost every type of animal there is.
