I've done this once last winter over at *the other board*, let's do it here.
What was your first set of wheels? Mine........a 1969 Volkswagen Square Back Sedan :wink: SUPER little car, I bought it from my parents back in 1972, kept it until 1998 I believe, it was still running like a top. I put 2 rebuilt engines in it, one tranny......I sold it to a high school girl for $1500, I've seen it around town still puttin' around, now I know when I sold it to her, it had JUST over 350,000 miles on it :o Ah the memories 8-)

1970 White Opel GT. 4 speed--- Red interior, with this mechanical sliding lever thing to flip the headlights.
Driver sits literally ON the floor---you can't get a hand under the seat.
Had this silly bump in the hood to clear the air intake.

Nice car but a mechanics nightmare.

For me...it was a 17 year old's Mini 'Vet.

That was ONE good thing about the VW.....not much room, however, we use to cram 6 ppl into the thing, you just had to make sure everyone took a shower!

A 1967 Dodge Coronet. My parent's first new car. It was aqua blue with a black vinyl roof. I always could pick it out in the parking lot because it looked like it was smiling at you! My Dad installed an FM converter in it too.

I can relate 1981 chevy citation..That was the car that wouldn't stop running..until I sold it to one of my best friends..Robin..On the way back from GRAD NIGHT at WDW..she head oned into another one of my friends..She... after a few weeks in the hospital and a few close calls survived..The chevy..was cut in two in the wreck and the jaws of life finished her off!! :o

1965 Dodge Polara, tudor 383 cu .in. with a deep reddish interior/exterior and factory air. GREAT back seat... :wink:

My first car was the ugliest green Grand Torino. It was one of my dad's company cars and I guess no one else wanted it. I guess it was about a 1976 model. I was so JEALOUS of my brother, he had a PINTO.

'67 Chrysler Newport 2-door, land yacht. Slight tail fins, fender skirts, HUGE trunk. 383, 2bbl. It would move out. I talked my dad into putting a glass pack on it. Beautiful car. 2-door was very rare. Still kicking myself for getting rid of it. It's probably still running somewhere.

At the time I was jealous of my younger brother. He got the '70 Chrysler 300. 440, 4bbl, dual exhausts. That car would MOVE, but it was ugly.

The ladies never complained, Stephanie... :wink:

Besides, the front seat was split, with a mid-seat console...I dubbed it the "birth-control panel". Same thing with my second car, a 1967 red ragtop Mustang. :cry:
