Hell's belles, Dennis; I done thought the "rancher vs. sodbuster" debate belonged in the late 19th Century..yet here 'tis, alive and kickin'.

I see two possibilities, legally...(a) repeal the law as it stands, or (b) institute an "anti-flatlander" statute which restricts acreage to people who can priove at least two generations in AZ before settlin' in and bein' 'lowed to fence their homesteads. Else, I guess I'll have to come on down thar and dispense old-timey justice...

"From a town, name of Fargo, North Dakota
Rode a man with a six-gun in his hand
And his daring fight 'gainst crime
Made him a legend in his mind
East and west of the Rio Grande..." :o

to the ruling about State Land Leases, an environmental group just recently outbid ranchers for a lease on some land near Elgin-their plan is to restore a stand of Willows and Cottonwood trees that existed before the cattle came.

Why not give the wackos a permanent lease on Organ Pipe, with the provision that THEY are responsible for securing the border there from illegal imigrants?

That oughta shut 'em up...2,000 + per month, according to US Border Patrol get through in that area.

I thought that was crazy... what drives a man to kill his neighbor's cattle? I don't get that.

Simple...when a neighboring rancher decides to "allow" his cattle to feed on another man's property (read: retired person's carefully manicured lawn and/or garden).

It would tick me off, too...except I wouldn't shoot the cattle, but the rancher. Hell, cattle don't know from nothing...the rancher DOES. :grrr:
