I Miss the Star Spangled Banner
Can anyone just SING the song without chopping it up and trying to create a new version? Geez! I love the original...very emotional, yet makes me feel good, proud. I wonder if anyone will ever sing it that way again on TV.

I have no problem with "some stylizing" of the Star Spangled Banner, and I do mean a little, but what I heard last night was MANGLED!!!! Once I realized what was going on(I was at hospital and didn't have full attention to TV)I just turned away because I didn't even wnat to hear anymore. I have TOTAL RESPECT for the song, but I really have no use for many of the versions of it I hear nowdays. JMHO

That's right, Steve. It does take someone with a wide vocal range to sing that
song - you think you've got it whipped until you hit..."and the rockets red glare..."
people are comfortable with a bass range, a tenor range, an alto range, and, a
soprano range, but, when you toss the whole mix in one song, it's a nightmare
vocal range for most singers, unless you're a 12-yr.old choirboy before the
voice change happens. And, george made me remember how it could've been
worse!
