Britney drives with 5mo old in her lap!!! NOT SMART!
Britney Spears defended photographs showing the pop star driving with her infant son on her lap, saying she was dodging the paparazzi.
Several photos published Tuesday showed Spears driving her SUV in Malibu, California, with son, Sean Preston, on her lap, rather than strapped into a car seat in the back. Spears said she did it because of a "horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi."
The photos show Spears holding the wheel of the car with one hand, and her 5-month-old baby in the other. A person is shown sitting in the passenger seat next to Spears.
"I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger," Spears said in statement released late Monday.
"I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us," she said. "I love my child and would do anything to protect him."
The agency that snapped the photos, X17, had a different account.
"These pictures were taken in a very peaceful context, in which photographers exhibited no aggressive behavior," the agency said in a statement released to "Access Hollywood." "We believe that the pictures speak for themselves."
Spears gave birth to her son in September. He is her first child with husband of one year, former backup dancer Kevin Federline.

Isn't that what the photographer's agencies said after the Princess Diana's fatal car crash? What Britney needs is a tear gas/heavy smoke dispenser in the exhaust system of her car. I can imagine the crush if she tried to put the infant in car seat in the back with all of the noisy insects around her (a play on the origin of the term paparazzi).

Here's what happened: she sent her bodyguard to go get coffee, and apparently pulled the kid out of its car seat while waiting. Once the bodyguard was in the car she decided it's a good idea to drive off into traffic with the kid in her lap, even though she was originally sitting still, parked in a large, locked SUV. Was she bothered enough to hand the kid to the bodyguard to strap into the car seat? No. Was she bothered enough to crawl in the back from the front and put the kid in the car seat? No. Was she so terrified of the eeeevil paps while her bodyguard was in the coffee shop that she had her windows rolled up and was looking scared? No. The window was down and she was smiling.
Instead, she excused her actions as 'protecting her child' from the paparazzi. I'm sorry, but having a pap possibly banging on the window of your parked vehicle with a camera is 1000000 times less dangerous than driving in major traffic while you are not belted in and your 5 month old and his unsupported neck bob around 2 inches from the airbag. There were plenty of opportunities to put the child in the seat without exiting the vehicle.
She's a moron.

Agree 1000%, there is no excuse almost ever for not buckling up a baby, ecspecially that little of one.

The paparazzi didn't make her drive off with her kid in her lap. SHE did. The positioning of her son is entirely her own fault.
I've heard of people getting charged or ticketed for that. Why isn't Britney? Because she is rich and famous...
Supposedly, Child Services has contacted the LAPD about it and DCFS will be investigating:

There have also been reports that the paps were in their cars at a reasonable distance. If they were, then they couldn't have been moving while she too was parked, thus it's would not be likely that they were endangering her as she decided to and began to drive off.
Methinks her statement was made only because she got caught doing something she shouldn't have and needed a convenient fall guy. And it's pretty clear her PR folks wrote it because "instinctively" is likely not in her vocabulary.

She doesn't look like she's trying to get away from the Paparazzi. She looks relaxed, smiling in at least one of the pics, and the window is rolled down some.
She does look more like a normal person in the pic, instead of the usual I'm all that look. EXCEPT a normal person would have their baby in a child seat! There's no excuse for that unless you're holding the baby in a parked car and someone comes at you with a knife, or something like that, and you have to take off quickly. She looks like she was just chillin...

Here's the text of her original excuse:
Here's how I think it would have read if Britney had written it:
Britney: "I Wuv My Chiyyyyuld"
"Today I had a real scary like, thing, like, with my lack of brain cells while I was with my baybee. Because of a recent thingie when I locked myself in my car without my baybee as some mean ol' pazeratti were around, I was like wicked skerred that this time the big mean pazeratti would put both me and my baybee in danger by taking pictures and stealing my soul, y'all. So I--hey, Kevvy, what's that big word that means I'm smart but only on Tuesdays? Instinctively? Yeah. I instintely....incintivewy...instankaly? Oh whatever, I did some stuff to get my baybee and me out of harm's way, but the pazeratti continued to like totally take pictures of my fine butt, and took photos of us which were sold to the media which sucks because like, why would pazeratti sell pictures and stuff? I wuv my chiyyyyuld and would do anything to like, keep him from getting hurt by like, anyone, except airbags, because those are all full of air and nice and fluffy like a total cloud, y'all."
"Britney: "I Love My Child"
"Today I had a horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi while I was with my baby. Because of a recent incident when I was trapped in my car without my baby by a throng of paparazzi, I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger. I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us, and took photos of us which were sold to the media. I love my child and would do anything to protect him."

Well, what can I say.....am I surprised? NO! Am I upset with dear Brittney......upset she'd put her child's safety in jeaprody but she's a celeb I just really, really don't care about. Don't want anything bad to happen to her, don't really want that for anyone save for Saddam, Bin Laden, other terrorists, but Brittney's antics just make me want to.....
