What does this have to do with coyotes???
SoCal Authorities Find 19 Immigrants Packed in Van
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (AP) 2.09.06, 8:25a -- Nineteen suspected illegal immigrants were found packed inside a van after a cousin of one placed a 911 call, authorities said.
Jose Carrera made the emergency call while driving behind the van as it traveled east on the 10 Freeway Tuesday evening, said California Highway Patrol Sgt. Tom Graham.
Carrera told officers that his cousin made a deal with smugglers but something went wrong and he was taken by force, according to CHP Sgt. Mark Shaffer. Officers found the Mexican nationals inside the van when they stopped it in San Bernardino, he said.
The occupants - man and women between the ages of 15 and 25 - did not appear to have been harmed and no weapons were found, Shaffer said.
They told officers they were headed to Las Vegas and Colorado to find work, CHP officer John Meaders said.
He said the suspected smuggler told officers the group began its journey from Mexico about six months ago.
All of the immigrants agreed to waive deportation hearings and be voluntarily returned to Mexico, said Michael Bermudez, a spokesman for the Border Patrol's San Diego office.

I think he was yelling because he specified several times that he was talking about people. The term "Coyote" I believe actually originated with the illegals themselves in Mexico and has become standard slang usage in the Border region of the US even among BP agents as a term for human smugglers. This is unfortunate because the REAL coyotes (the animals) are actually very intelligence and adaptive animals. Perhaps the fact that Coyotes (animals) are also very cunning (and quick, fast, and nimble contrary to the cartoons) has something to do with insulting them by attaching their species name to such a low form of life.
On the positive side, the good guys won one in Tucson Federal Court last week. The driver and guide of a van full of illegals who caused a devastating accident in Sierra Vista that killed 5 (including two US citizens) plus an unborn infant and injured 21, were convicted on 15 Federal charges stemming from the incident. They face up to Life in Federal Prison and there is no Parole in the Federal system.

Has there always been a no parole clause in the Fed system? Just curious...
