Thank you dear friends for all the prayers and concern. It's been a tough few days sorting a mixed bag of emotions out but all in all I'm doing fine. Michelle and I had advanced weapons training for the police dept. yesterday and today, I almost cancelled the training but got to thinking, my dad would have been MAD if I missed it.....so we went. 9 hours yesterday and 6 hours today, it kept my mind busy to say the least and kept my mind off of the grief.......I still have my moments of dead sadness but overall, as I said I'm fine.
Once again thanks a bunch from my family and me!

This first year will be very hard Dennis. I would allow yourself to grieve when you can and when you can fill your time with activities to keep you busy, that you know your dad would suggest, then by all means do them. I just remember each holiday and his birthday without my dad was so profoundly sad. I talked a lot, outloud in the car. I'll admit it. I talked to him, people probably drove by and thought I was nuts (or hopefully singing to the radio!). Just do whatever it takes to grieve. I firmly believe that we need to grieve for our loved ones and honor them by still talking about them. Because I also believe they are still with us.
Didn't mean to get all nuts on ya. Just know we're here whenever you want to vent.

I too talk to my mother , Miss Mary when I am out on my crossing guard duty. She will be gone three years this Dec 31. Dennis, if you need to talk to your father, just do it silently if people are around and you don't want any one seeing you talking. I feel my mother close to me when I talk to her.

2 weeks ago today my father was called home and today, we are having his funeral/memorial service. My father was an AVID fisherman, he lived for fishing......he spent every single day off before he retired fishing and when he retired in 1980, he spent the next 26 years chasing his dreams of fishing WHEN he wanted and WHERE he wanted.
His Memorial Service is being held at his favorite fishing lake in the WHite Mountains, Little Bear Lake at 1300 hrs.........over 100 people are expected to attend.
