TEHRAN, Iran - Iran’s president on Saturday rejected U.S. and European pressure to freeze the country’s nuclear program and hinted that Iran may withdraw from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

More threats from Irans President to the world.I think it's about time that Military action gets going sooner rather than later before this gets ugly.

It's already ugly but I agree that the US must act to prevent wacko's like this from getting a nuclear weapon.

What I mean by (Before this gets ugly) is that Iran throws missles to Israel,Al-Qaeda gets nukes by the means of Iran providing them and Iran cuts the Straits of Hormuz to all oil traffic.

US prepares military blitz against Iran's nuclear sites
By Philip Sherwell in Washington
(Filed: 12/02/2006)

Strategists at the Pentagon are drawing up plans for devastating bombing raids backed by submarine-launched ballistic missile attacks against Iran's nuclear sites as a "last resort" to block Teheran's efforts to develop an atomic bomb.

Central Command and Strategic Command planners are identifying targets, assessing weapon-loads and working on logistics for an operation, the Sunday Telegraph has learned.

A Very interesting piece of news here about the planning of a military strike. Also look at how many plants Iran has many of them underground. However as I said before at this thread the U.S can drop the mother of all bombs (21,000 pounds) and cripple those underground sites. However it wont be easy as Iran has the most ballistic missles in the world and their defense system is good.

The Boston Globe is reportiing how Iran would strike back. Bombarding Israel, US ships and Iraq with missiles.Sending their million man army over the border of Iraq.Things could get very messy.I don't think a military action would be quick

hitting Israel would only result in a severe israeli response

Iran needs to know that we can turn Tehran into the MS Gulf Coast in a matter of hours if push came to shove. I dont think they realise that

if Iran esclates any operation into a full scale war... they better be prepared to have their country smashed, and lose 50% of their civilians

i personally do not think the Iranian President even cares as this would undoubtedly lead to a "deeper rift" between the West and Islam...in a way i almost think he would welcome it. JMHO

then let him rule over a pile of rubble, or from a jail cell like Saddam is doing. He invades Iraq or attacks Israel... this will be the likely outcome

That would be rather dumb on the Iranian president's part (or anyone's for that matter) - the US has the duty of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open by any means (including military) to allow for free trade in and out of the Persian Gulf. Trying to block the strait would make military action by the US almost a requirement, and then it looks like Iran was being the aggressive ones and actually trying to start something.

Where do you get the 50% figure from? Also, don't you find that horrific?

to be honest, I do not find killing 50% of the enemy civilians horrific because in war, the object is the total elimination of your enemy. IMO, civilians are a part of the enemy thus, are legit targets. I do understand the other view point, I just do not agree with it

(CNN) -- Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency have stripped most surveillance cameras and agency seals from Iranian nuclear sites and equipment as demanded by Tehran in response to its referral to the U.N. Security Council, according to diplomats in Europe quoted by The Associated Press.

The diplomats, who demanded anonymity, said the move was part of retaliatory measures announced by Iran that have left the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog agency with only the most basic means to monitor Iran's nuclear activities, according to AP.

They are now alone without any supervision by the inspectors meaning that they can enrich uranium at full gear.

Don't be so quick to say "let's go in" - the people who have to "go in" have a huge task at hand, and then a huge task dealing with the things they have seen when they come home.

There is no winner in a nuclear exchange and this country doesn't need another war. I agree with Sunny. With all due Respect, It's so we easy to make decisions when you don't have to fight and go through what our troops have.

I hear what you are saying. But I don't think you truly comprehend what we ask of our soldiers. Like Rainband said, it's real easy to sit on this side and say let's just do it.
