Hmm... I don't believe it. I don't mean to be rude, but, not when you were in the lower to mid 40s this morning. Are you sure you weren't seeing things?

There were snowflakes around this morning, but you don't have to make stuff up to prove your point. Your post this morning from your home on the other thread was at 7:22 and you were speaking of snow at that point. Here you say you saw snow and then travelled to Citrus Park and saw it. I presume you made that statement following the post that I made. I live in the Citrus Park area and I can tell you that there were flakes but it was over by 7:10. Even if you left right after making your previous post to go to Citrus Park, it would have been around 8 am by the time you arrived. At that point, we were in total sunshine.

But, I did receive other reports to validate your report in NW St. Pete. Several of them were from around Tyrone Square.

You cant base the temps in st pete on the obs. ST pete ob is taken at Albert Whitted Airport which is right on Tampa Bay. St pete clearwater ob is taken at the ST pete clearwater airport which is also right on Tampa Bay. We have sensors in Pinellas county that revealed mid pinellas was between 37 and 39 this morning. Tampa ob is at TIA which is very close to the Bay. At my house we had 35 and we are less than 10 miles north TIA.

The lowest temperature at St. Pete was 46. I'm sorry, but I'm still having a hard time believing this. Did the NWS confirm these reports?

Ok, I didn't know that. But, I'm still having an extremely hard time believing these reports. If there were such sightings, you'd think it would be mentioned by the NWS, or by the local media... Oh well. Maybe I'm just jealous. :P

Ok, so maybe this snow flurry event did happen, anyway, when was the last time you recall flurries in the Tampa Bay area? Has it been a while?

It has been a while. In fact I have been here since early 2001 and I can think of only one time when we had some reports of sleet mixed in with sprinkles but it was in Hernando county which is about 40 miles north of Tampa Bay.

Wow, this morning must have been really quite amazing for you and everyone living around Tampa. The last time I saw some snow flurry was during the Christmas Snowstorm of 2004. I got to see a couple of flakes fall! But that was it! While several locations closer to the coast (can you believe that), recieved 3 inches, Victoria, TX got a foot. Last time before that snow was in Houston, the arctic outbreak of December 1989. Here's to the next 15 years of waiting! :(

there were actually flurries reported in Houston in 1996 too and that ice storm that Houston had in 1997 was also a big deal. Winter weather is much more common here. Living in Florida a good bit of my life though, I understand how rare it is there. I know that Tampa saw 0.2" of snow in 1977 (and it accumulated on cars and roofs), and I know that during that same storm up to 2" fell in west central FL, and a trace in MIAMI! But that was probably Florida's last major/widespread snow storm. Yes, the panhandle saw a big one in 1989 and sleet/ice was reported in Orlando during that same period. But really, any snow south of north Florida is a big deal. The last time ANY flakes were "officially" reported in that area was in 2003 when the east coast got some flurries in the form of "ocean effect snow"...I did read though from the NWS a few years back, that they get "un-official" reports of flurries nearly every winter in the sunshine state though.
