Westiminster Kennel Club Dog Show tonight & tomorrow

#1 Postby Stephanie » Mon Feb 13, 2006 7:50 pm

Just in case anyone is interested. It's on the USA network I believe beginning at 8:00 pm EST.

It's always feast or famine when it comes to television shows. Tonight I have a triple choice of 24, Westminster or the Olympics where the pairs are skating their long program. ***SIGH***.

We always watch Westminster, but this time we opted for the olympics. They never pick my favorite dog anyway. Except for last year. That dog was exceptional!

They did a spotlight on 3 non-working group dogs just before the terriers went on - a French bulldog, Bulldog and and Boston Terrier (that's my dog)!

The Non-working group is coming up next.

A rottweiler just won the working group.

That was a wonderful tribute to the dogs that were rescued and lost during Katrina and the people that worked to help rescue and save as many as possible.

Thanks for the memory jog -- I've been grading papers and watching the Olympics. I forgot all about the dog show. Oh, an adorable Boston Terrier is on right now!

BTW, my sister's miniature Dachshund (Juliette, a real snuggle-bunny) is living with us right now and we'll also be babysitting our Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier granddogger Tally this coming Friday through Monday. (And I think my husband is warming to the idea of our own dog once my sister moves into her own place later this year -- yippee!) :D

They have some beautiful dogs on there. My favorite group is the terrier group followed by the toy group. I have a cairn terrier and a toy poodle...and a mutt!

DeeBee, you need to start thinking what kind of dog you and your husband would like...a rescue dog, a pound puppy or a purebred.

I love watching these pure-breds. Marty grew up with Boston Terriers. I never had a dog until Rudy.

I would go for a shelter dog. At any rate Dee Bee, you do need to think about the type of dog that would be appropriate for your family. That's great though that you will getting one of your own! :D

I'm hoping to find a female, young adult or mid-aged adult, low-shedding, miniature breed (pure or mixed), from a rescue group in FL. I've started web-searching for info on different breeds and rescue groups in FL. I have quite a bit of research to do -- and probably until the end of this year to do so. :P

I love the fact that the winners so far are DIFFERENT from prior years - rottweiler, bull terrier, pug and a dalmaition.

Maybe, someday, the Boston Terrier will win the group.

Yeah, he's cute. I'm partial to the Pug myself. Tonight the "big dogs" are on, hunting, herding and hounds. Not all of the breeds are large in these groups, but that's what I think of when I hear these groups. I love the big guys the best. :D

The Colored Bull Terrier wins best in show!!! This makes the 44th time the terrier group has won. Is he not precious?
