Happens every year with almost every system. Living in eastern Ohio you have to worry about the dry slot which hits every nor easter or a very slight movement to the south or east in the track. We dont live in a very good area. We havent had a decent snowfall since 03 and that was a fluke here. We werent predicted anything and got 23" at my house. Storm before that was "96, again... predicted 1 to 3 inches.. ended with well over a foot. Those tracks shifted in our favor. Last year we missed every storm by at least 50 miles to the west or east. I guess we will have to keep waiting for the next big one.

Yeah - our Home Depot's, local hardware stores are all fully stocked with shovels, salt, snow blowers, all at the ready. For what? The warmest January on record? LOL February hasn't brought much wintery precip either. At this point, here in the Ohio Valley, even if we get a decent snowfall, it will melt soon after it's over. Sigh. If you ask school kids and teachers all they want is one more snowday. Just one!

I would say maybe next year but who the heck knows anymore. Here in Cincinnati we've had 2 very cold, and snowy December's. Didn't used to be that way. You could do your xmas shopping, not worrrying about big snowstorms. The Dec. 23rd, 2004 storm took everyone by surprise. This past December, nothing major but enough that our local district had a snowday. And it was cold-cold. Seems like December is becoming the way January used to be. That is a completely non-scientific comment. Backed up by nothing but maybe my gas and electric bill!
