Thank you. I can't believe southerngale is even a moderator... This is ridiculous to the nth degree to be harassed like this by a moderator of her own forum.

BTW thanks for the nod to me with a quote of my own  Obviously it wasn't even close to 96. Lowest I got was 18, which we had just back in Dec!

I was just pointing out possibilities, I wasn't forecasting anything. Excuse me for speculating... This is a weather board, where you discuss the weather.

I understand that and its fine. I was just amazed at the length Southerngale went with all those quotes, it obviously took a while. I'm not sure why there is still a lot of debate over the situation especially when we've moved to a new thread and we have more potential (more serious potential, IMO) for portions of the south in terms of ice. Just my thoughts on the situation. :)

Folks, it is what it is. When we post forecasts, we subject ourselves for better or worse to the scrutiny of our friends and fellow weather enthusiasts. Southerngale didn't make this stuff up.

And for the record, I believe it was Tyler charging me with degrading him that helped commence all of this. I sent the guy a PM and told him "hey, I was just kidding ... and had I known I would have created such a fuss, I wouldn't have done it." And he has responded accordingly.

I'll tell you what I can't believe .... I can't believe such a light-hearted intention has turned into such a major commotion. Geez, I won't say squat from now on. I really am sorry to create such heartache for everyone.

Can we get back to the weather? Please?!

If yall are like me...youre here to learn about the weather and find out about potential storms and and other things like that...not busting each other's asses about stupid things like busted predictions and possibilities...this especially goes out to you, southerngale...I think you owe Tyler an apology

southerngale likes to put people down, apparently. She has done it once, now twice towards me. Again, I GET IT! I busted. My forecast was wrong. southerngale, just let it slide! Quit bringing this stupid situation up. There was no reason to post all of those quotes, unless you wanted self satisfaction that you are better than me or something. I want to see YOUR forecast.

southerngale, what does your post contribute to this topic at hand? This is supposed to be about the winter pattern for the south. Not "lets see how much we can harass EWG and Tyler about how they busted that one time".

Check your PM. I apologize for those comments I made, I was just in the heat in the moment, becuase I felt really bad for busting, and then that "joke" just made me feel worse. Hopefully we are friends again... :)

THANK YOU! Your such a great moderator. You really love making trying to make me look stupid southerngale, its a little disturbing, to say the least...

You are trying to say all those quotes from me were predicting an ice age, I don't see it. This whole situation is BS. Can we all stop trying to degrade myself already?

You sure get upset easily. I never said you forecasted teens. :?: Where do you think I said that? Please show it to me. If you'll read what I said above the quotes, I was just saying that is why a lot of people joke about y'all talking about the Ice Age, etc. Lighten up.

Anyone can see that is mostly speculation, predictions, etc. and not actual forecasts anyway. Nobody was trying to make anyone look stupid and I don't think you're disturbing. I have actually complimented you several times on some of your analysis, which you always conveniently ignore.

No....I'm not trying to say all those quotes from you were predicting an ice age. Once again, read what I said above the quotes. I told you why. As usual, you only see what you want to see.

Thanks for the nod on the great moderator. I don't know about great, but I do work very hard here and I try.

Seriously...is it such a bad thing to have a prediction bust...I mean cmon some ppl here are taking this to a huge extreme, just cuz tyler busted by a few degrees on a forecast doesnt mean that you should kill him over it...besides hes not the only one who messed up. Also he have a huge system moving through Texas over the next week...I think we should be paying more attention to that than ranting ppl off on there predictions from the past...

Too long! I had no idea he would get so upset. I was just trying to back up Portastorm who took a punch from Tyler about his joke. I thought Portastorm was just joking because of so many posts about how cold it was gonna get, and I thought he got treated rather harshly for making the joke.

Hey guys, we've ALL busted forecasts. I think Tyler and EWG are great guys and I'm glad to have them on the board!!

Here's my $.02 on the situation though...in the long thread there were plenty of dissenting opinions, from myself and some of the pro-mets on this outbreak, and it seemed no matter what we said, it was quickly discarded and a response with something to the effect of "it IS coming" (in caps), etc. It's one thing to post a forecast and bust. It's another to almost constantly discard others' opinions and so emphatically preach the massive arctic express is going to rival other historical outbreaks. I'm sorry but when you do that, you're just asking for it IMO. I think that's the point/lesson Southergale may have been trying to make.

Please don't take it persaonally. Just chill a bit, and maybe not be so emphatic on what you think's gonna happen.

Remember that little post I made last week when I said: Often, the people that criticize the most before an event are the ones who end up getting burned when it's over? I think we all just witnessed it.

But, I never said this would outlast other historical outbreaks... Again, I don't know why ya'll I think I was preaching a massive arctic outbreak. At first, I was speculating that this could be big, but as the event became closer, I toned down my thoughts. I just said it would likely be very cold, which it was, but not near as cold as I thought it would be... Yes, I critisized other forecasts, but thats becuase this is a message board. I was giving my opinions of why I thought the other forecasts were wrong, such as the NWS, which in fact they were right, not completely right (like the busted high temperature forecasts saturday across the area), but they were mostly right, more right than me anyway.

First off, if you hadn't had made your post, everything was settling. The whole conflict with Portastorm and I was resolved, as I acknowledged it was only a joke, I just took offense to it. Then, when everything on the stove settled, you came in, and posted a post which contributed absolutely NOTHING to the forum or board whatsoever, just to show how bad my forecast was, even though I had already said it was. You were trying to show why alot of people were saying I forecasted an ice age, however, some of those quotes actually came to truth and really didn't prove anything. I said this could rival 1996, but at the time, I did not realize that the air was not all that cold. I still am scratching my head as to why it was necessary to post all those quotes. Completely off-topic, as is this post as well.

Not trying to change the subject here b/c I do like to see conflict... but I think that maybe that was it for freezing temps here in the Houston area. Anyone disagree? March is two weeks away and the pattern has changed once again. We were 80 something today. Maybe a Winters Over thread for Houston??
