Do t.v. commercials influence your buying?

#1 Postby azsnowman » Fri May 30, 2003 12:13 pm

For us, sometimes yes, most of the time NO.......in fact, most of the time the commercials are sooo stupid that we will NOT buy a particular product just for that reason!

YES, when I see new products I run out and buy them. Especially cosmetics and beauty products.

I agree Dennis. Occasionally, I might see something I want to try or a good sale on something, but more often I realize what I DON'T want to buy. ;)

 :? :?: :P  YEP, that's me. I'm a real sucker for advertisements. (especially beauty products) Not that I'm vain but I want to look so good that I could be vain if I wanted to be vain - and that, my friends would take a lot of beauty products.

When I actually watch tv, I usually mute the commercials
until my show comes back on. It's a habit. I decide for myself
what I buy!

Doesn't get me a bit... I don't watch too many commercials.

Yes....they remind me to keep my eyes open for a TV that will automatically block out commericals.

This comment, of course, can be taken with a grain of salt. I get my paycheck from printing millions of newspapers all of which have to sell advertising in order to pay my salary.

I do use advertising some, but not too much. I think it depends on how good the commercial is.

Here is a question... if you are faced with a) a product you have seen a commercial for and b) the exact same product that you haven't seen any ads for.... which one do you most likely buy?

The only time a commercial influences me is when it's advertising a great storewide sale. This is coming from the Official Shopaholic. LOL

Not usually. I'd be more influenced by ads in the local newspaper, like if there's a sale somewhere.

About the only time I *buy into* these commercials is when I sitting there after supper and I see a ad for something *sweet*, if there's nuthin' for desert, I jump in the Ram and head to Safeway, "Ah.......the power of suggestion!" Ya know, something like "What would you dooooo for a Klondike Bar?" See.......I got ya wanting one right now, RIGHT??

I don't really by anything exclusive for myself even though there are things I would like to buy. Annoyingly, there is nothing off the top of my head that I want.

As for commercials specifically... I don't really mind them, the more interesting they are I will most likely watch or listen to them again. My father just about always mutes them. He tends to 'leave on' the ones that he has never seen and hear before.
