Fla. Middle Schoolers Bribed Gym Teacher

#1 Postby LaPlaceFF » Thu Feb 16, 2006 3:47 pm

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A middle school gym teacher let children sit out his class if they paid him $1 a day, collecting perhaps thousands of dollars, officials said Thursday.

Terence Braxton, 28, turned himself in on bribery charges and was released without bail.

Authorities said Braxton took the payoffs between September and December, resigning after the principal learned of the scheme from a parent.

The charges accuse him of taking about $230 from six students, but sheriff's spokesman Mike Ward said the teacher's take was probably much greater

I'm starting to think the things some people do just to get on the news!!!!

Does anyone else think it's ridiculous to waste the time and resources of the justice system on this case? I say just fire the teacher and move on.

Who knows why they wanted out of gym so bad. I used to just skip the whole dern day if I didn't want to be there. I wonder whos idea it was to begin with, the kids or his. I bet it was the kids, and he just went along. Bad decision.

I was never good at sports but I always liked gym class. The only things I didn't like were having to use community showers, and having to change in front of other people.
