I believe the surge in Pass Christian exceeded 30 feet. It is rather obvious if you see it first hand. All you have to do is look way up in the trees at all the debris that floated into the branches. If it did it was in western parts of the Pass. My house in Diamondhead is around 32-33 feet and the surge came within a few feet there based on the debris line on the bayou. The bayou has tall sand dunes to its east so there was no wave action there......MGC

It's spread out, as I'd stated, and yes, Ixolib, the data indeed shows a 22.5 right there on Biloxi Bay.

What's truly FRIGHTENING is that 34.9 right around Pass Christian across from Waveland. Can you IMAGINE nearly a 35 foot storm surge? This has got to be one for the record books.

that map shows a 48.02 water mark on a river north of layman

Looking at the inundation limits and depths along the coast just FLOORS me!!!! Over the last 36 years I have traveled that coast both pre Camille and since, both pre I-10 and since. So, even though I haven't lived there I know the area relatively well. EEven talking with Lindaloo about Pascagoula didn't prepare me for those maps. Never in my life did I dream surge could come that far inland, even with bays etc. JUST TOTALLY FREAKING INCREDIBLE!

Well I don't know that anything has been declared "official" as per earlier posts; but the info IS on the NOAA site link--see above link: NOAA.gov.

I was scavaging Friday afternoon in some of the abandoned apts behind and to the east of my west Biloxi Beach front lot... there remains a discernable water line in the apts that measures 66 inches above the floor... my lot is 17-18 feet above sea level and my best guess is that these apts are probably at best three to four feet higher than my lot... which makes the surge, at least from what the water line marks indicate, anywhere from 25-27 feet above sea level... I'm not sure how the wave action is delineated within the rooms of these apts, in other words would the waves be added on top of this water line... this is consistent with my neighbors house directly behind me... he too had about a 5 foot water line. Indications are that his house is about 4 foot higher than mine was.... which puts the water at about 27 feet....... footnote: it incredible how much has been cleaned up along the front beach in Biloxi... there are going to be empty lots for a long long time....

The Katrina Impact Assessment shows a 25.72 ft storm surge right at my neighborhood.... which is consistent with the delineated remaining water marks found in some of the remaining structures.. I do believe one would have to add some wave action on top of that as well....
