Most Unbelievable Documentary I've Ever Seen

#1 Postby Sean in New Orleans » Wed Feb 22, 2006 11:16 pm

This documentary of St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana was released on February 16, 2006. Get ready to witness the most awesome display of nature that you have ever seen. The documentary shows St. Bernard Parish over the last 6 months, beginning when Hurricane Katrina hit and flooded the parish. Please NOTE that this video is GRAPHIC and does show DEAD HUMANS, but, it is only brief shots. You are not going to believe this video. It's very emtional to me, as my parents are from St. Bernard Parish. In closing, as you finish watching the video, I want you to keep in mind that over 15,000 people have already returned to St. Bernard Parish and are living there. There are businesses and stores that have reopened. The Post Office opened last week. The local consolidated school has over 2,000 students that attend every day. It is a great testimony to the people of St. Bernard. The future? Well, a multi-billion dollar effort is beginning to completely refurbish and redesign the entire parish. Some of the places you will see will become golf courses. Residential areas will be perfectly designed. A new interstate is planned, as well as a monorail connecting the City of Chalmette with Downtown New Orleans. And, here is the unbelievable video... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 6752563409

Sean, I live in New Orleans and haven't heard about any of these plans. Where'd you get this info?

I neither have heard of this. They used to talk about having a high speed train connect Baton Rouge and NOLA years ago, but nothing ever came out of it. What is your source for this info? Sounds nice.

The monorail/high speed train was in the Times-Picayune and Bring Back New Orleans Report...the train will roll along St. Bernard Hwy and end around the old Kaiser Aluminum Plant. Florida Blvd. will become an interstate connecting New Orleans to St. Bernard. The interstate will extend to Violet and will aid in flood protection. Either Buccaneer Villa South or Carolyn Park in Arabi will become a golf course, with the more likely golf course landing on Carolyn Park. These plans and the re-development are coming out of pre-planning meetings in St. Bernard Parish, which my Dad attends.

Ok, so you're saying if the BNOBC plan is implemented, this is what we'll have. Well, fair enough, but we're a looooong way from that plan being approved and implemented. I hope it happens. Thanks for the info.

Wow. That was quite a video. Just sadens me all over again. Truley amazing what mother nature can do, she has no mercy. I think that is one of the most detailed videos I have seen. There was some tunes in there I haven't heard in a long time, but fit so perfectly. I am happy to hear people are returning and businesses reopening, and things are getting to back to some sort of normalcy.

I also watched the video. Amazing to see the house and concrete slab lifted from the ground and floated. I didn't think that would be possible.....MGC

If I am not mistaken, this particular area did not flood from a levee breach. This was "over the top" flooding. Unbelievable!

St Benard Parish was flooded both ways. The breech by the lower 9th ward flowed into St. Benard and the levees were overtopped in many areas. My brother, a deputy in St Benard said the water went from zero to nine feet in a matter of minutes where he was at in Chalmette.......MGC

That's odd about Buccaneer Villa South... what about BV North? My cousin's house WAS there, and they floated over his roof in boats. It's even closer to the MRGO, do they really plan to rebuild in that area? The "Parish" is a big part of my family too. We often used the old post office on Angela St.

And what about that MRGO monstrosity! Do they intend to finally do away with that surge funnel?

That part about Carolyn Park saddens me. Sooo many memories. Almost all my friends lived in CP when I attended Chalmette High!
