Winter came when autumn was supposed to be here! Maybe it'll return when Spring gets here as Spring seems to have taken over winter.

If that makes sense?! :?:

Haven't had any accumulation of snow here in central NC this winter...had one inch in January 2005.

I did slightly better here, but still the most I've got myself is 8.40 Inches in one storm just after Christmas, and 6.10 from the Blizzard of 2006. Been a bumper of a Winter storm wise, at least thus far.

Wow!

Look at todays updates!

Winter weather really does not like it here in central Ohio does it!

Even our slight chances of snow are going away.

And next weeks storm looks like hitting us dead on, just when it milds up in time for it to be rain! :( :P

Don't get me wrong, i like living in central Ohio, i really like it here and will really miss it...but this has to be the most unlucky place for snowstorms! Before i came here, i did research, and i thought it was in an ideal position!

I think i've reached the point of laughter now this winter!

I keep saying Winter has taken a vacation this year. I'd love a decent snowfall but I'm past expecting one. I was caught in that one inch burst of snow last Saturday morning. It was treachurous to drive in and we saw many accidents. Luckily we were driving north of Cincinnati and by the time we drove about 10 miles north of I 275, the snow stopped. But below that line, it was a mess. And all b/c of an inch! Although south of Cincy got more.

See there's another example - Kentucky ~seems~ to receive more snowfall than Cincinnati does! Frustrating.

I couldn't agree with you more on south of us getting snow and we don't. Just not fair. I am going through major snow withdraw. AHHHHHH!!!!!

I've told my husband for years Kentucky gets more decent snowfall than Cincinnati does. And he thinks I'm crazy. Last week there were two systems that hit middle and southern Kentucky. One did graze Cincinnati, the 1 inch burst that I wrote about above.

And I used to joke Dallas gets in on more wintery precip than Cincinnati does. I just blurted this out, hoping to jinx ourselves into a good blizzard. Never worked!

Oh well, when I clean up my bookmarks and folders, I'm just going to delete this one. This Winter board sure hasn't related much to Ohio this year!

I would say watch us get slammed next Winter. But again, to be flat out honest I've been saying that for years too! My brother who's 9 years older than me and drove delivery trucks for the US Postal office, and braved those past brutal winters, warns me to stock my pantry and get ready. I joke with him now, get ready for what? LOL

Mary

PS - and oh here's a true sign it's been mild in late Feb. I'm giving our Golden Retriever a bath today! Yes high of 57 predicted so why not. I usually bathe her in late Nov. or early December, before the cold sets in. And wait until March for her next one. But she's been itching like crazy (no fleas though), just flaky you know dry winter skin. And we all think she'd feel so much better with a bath. We towel dry and let her air dry. Can't do that if it's snowing out.

Hey maybe giving her a bath will jinx us for next week? We can only hope.....

Well Mary, all we can do now is jinx ourselves in every possible way!

I will get up later with the assumption that i dont have to scrape the car before i go to work!

I've already ran out of coffee so no hot drinks in the morning!

all i need to do now is plan a short trip somewhere next weekend, somewhere really nice that i'll look forward to lots!

Come on Ohio people, we need to start thinking negatively and start jinxing ourselves!

 :D

Gord - LOL!!!

If you're looking for a nice drive and perhaps some really cool hiking, check out Hocking Hills. We love it there! Gorges, rock formations, caves (open, not closed in), just beautiful scenery. My favorite is Cedar Falls. But Old Man's Cave is my second favorite. Lots of B & B's, Cabins and hotels for weekend and weekday rentals. We haven't been there in about 4 or 5 years and wish we could go back. Someday soon maybe. (pssst, they often have snowfall there, since they're so close to Virgina!). Another plus. We visited HH in the dead of winter years ago, late January. The Cedar Falls waterfall was frozen, so neat. We could walk right up to it and hear the water inside, still flowing.

Hocking Hills is pretty close to me. I think its an hour or so drive from here. Very nice place to visit. Kinda similar to the falls and things in Gatlinburg, TN. I'd love to see those in the winter. Let's face it, our winter is pretty much over.

Hocking Hills is gorgeous. We camped there summer before last. Would love to go when they had lots of snow. Gord booking a trip to the Bahamas would be a good jinx.

Five red-winged blackbirds appeared at our local golf course this week. First sign of spring in this part of Ohio. Tulips and daffodils have broken ground but it's really cold today.

I just hope these temperature extremes end soon in Pittsburgh. I haven't been in the best health ever since the temperatures can't decide what they want to do.

Yeah, this is getting pretty boring -- at least it was a WARM January though, average high was 49 degrees and we got above 60 several times. So if it's NOT going to snow, it might as well be warm.

As for the post above, I'm not counting my chickens -- I think if we see more than an inch of snow the rest of the season we should consider it a success (for those of us who LIKE snow)

True, things have trended weaker since I made that post.
