Hi Shannon and Sandi!!!

Congrats to Sandi on the engagement!!!

Shannon, we had dinners for 8 at our church. It was really a nice time of fellowship and good food too!! Hope you enjoy it and gain from it like we did.

Update on the MIL. She continues to improve slowly but surely and has once again become quite communicative. She is dressing/being dressed everyday instead of staying in her gown. She is eating very well and that is definitely helping her strength level. We still have a ways to go, but if she keeps this up we may actually be able to allow her to go back home in a few months. The going back home would have to include some outside help no matter what she thinks. Anyway, the prayers are working and we sure do appreciate them.

I just got of jury duty(2 days) yesterday. Had a dwi case for a young lady. We did convict her. Hopefully the judges sentencing will convince her to never do it again. It was her first offense and she did not cause an accident or hurt anyone thankfully. To often it doesn't turn out that way.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!!!

Sandi, it's great to see you. You are missed!!!!!!! Congratulations on the engagement and on returning to your home.

Good afternoon fellow stovians. It's over the hump day!!! YIPPEE

Miss Mary that sounds terrific!!! I'm really happy for you. Sitting at the computer for a while may be counter-productive but it will decrease your stress level.

David, I'm so glad your MIL is improving daily. I'll keep the prayers coming.

Well, I better get busy here. Talk about stress levels, this place is like a zoo. YIKES

I'll brew a pot of Earl Grey and throw some alligator logs on the fire in case Dennis stops by for a rest. As Eric would say, have a wonderful Wednesday.
Take care

Quick note - they're training me on the hot lunch register so I can be offered a permanent position. Beginning Monday. I joked with one of my coworkers, oh it will be just a few days. Wrong! I'm running that register for a whole month!

Oh wish me luck, I've never run a register before!!!!

And I mix up quarters with nickels, sometimes (unless I have those lovely reading glasses on). Yes I'll be the old fart cashier wearing those glasses around my neck.

What's next - support hose? LOL

Just kidding.....anyways, seriously, wish me luck. I've manned phones, typed a lot in my working past. But somehow I missed the cashier-experience.

I just keep telling myself - my customers are middle school kids. And we have nice kids in this district, very few are rude. Actually some can be rather snobby, but at least they're not rude.

Thanks all! Could be worse - I could be a teachers aide working with older students, helping them with their Math - yikes. Lousy at Math. Maybe that cashier job is looking better and better all the time. I'm okay with figuring out the correct amount in return, just don't ask me to do Algebra!!!! Or Word Problems!

David - glad to hear your MIL is improving. Prayers still coming.

Where the heck is everyone?

Eric sent me an email, the flu is going thru his family. First his mom, then his dad and now Eric. Wish we could send them some homemade chicken soup! So keep his family in your prayers right now.

Also, sunny's niece fell at school yesterday and was taken to the ER, via ambulance. She was paralyzed for a few minutes and tests were ordered (MRI, cat scans, etc.). There is bleeding on the front of the brain. Another cat scan will be done later today to see the bleeding has stopped. They aren't letting her eat, in case she needs surgery. Her niece's name is Phoebe. So please keep her in your prayers too.

Well here in Cincinnati, we're having wonderful wx - high of 57 and sunny, blue skies. I'm worried about sunny's niece and hope you're better ASAP Eric.

Thanks Mary. I'll be praying for Phoebe. ((HUGS)) to you Sunny.

Eric, I'll make you some ciber soup. Like Mary said, chicken noodle will do the trick. I think you might be contagious so I'll keep my distance and give you.((HUGS))

Mary, you're that type of person that can do anything once you set your mind to it. I know you'll do well.

Well I'm going to pop back out of here. I'll put on a pot of Earl Grey and leave some thin mint Girl Scout cookies. As Eric would say, "have a marvelous Monday."

Woke up to a gorgeous sunny, albeit slightly cool morning here(41º). Rest of the week looks wonderful!!

Man of man do I feel fortunate!! No sniffles or flu for me. Eric, do as the ladies say and you'll be better in no time!! Hurry and get better wxbuddy!!!

Karan, you know me too well!!! I love the thin mints!! I hope no one else wanted any!!!

Miss Mary, you haven't got anything to worry about with your new training. As we say down here in the South-""taint nothin' for a stepper!!". Youll do just fine!!

I don't see Furry around. My guess she is up on the mountain(big Bear). Snow levels are supposed to be pretty low with the big storm they are having out there. Lots of rain for the lower areas. Hope all our CA contingent stays dry!!

Well, like Karan I have to step out and act like I am working. EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!!

Wow, what a terrible thing about Sunny's niece. I sure hope and pray for a quick and complete recovery. Please let us know if you hear anything, Mary. Thanks.

Mary, Good luck on your new cashiering career! I'm sure you'll do great, and hopefully those middle-schoolers will be patient and polite. If nothing else, you'll be up-to-date on all their current lingo. I hope they speak better than they write on IM. At my daughter's middle school, they just recently implemented a computerized system where we deposit $$ in her acct, and she is given a PIN #, which she tells the cashier at the checkout line. The computer also has their picture come up, so that they can't just give out their PIN # to all their friends and assorted bullies. It's a great system; I hope it will come your way soon. :D

Guess what guys!! ... I'm flying to Oklahoma City on Thurs for the annual Severe Weather Workshop. But actually the best part, and the main reason for the trip, is I'm taking a one-day crash-course forecasting class on Sunday after the Workshop taught by one of my favorite authors and noted storm chaser, Tim Vasquez. If you want some awesome weather books, check these out. I have them all. http://weathergraphics.com/

You all have a great day and great week! :D

Wow, Donna! I wish that I was going with you - you're going to have a
great time! I'm jealous! Thanks for the link, too -
I'll check that one out.

Have fun on that register, Mary - I've graciously gotten out of working
a register every chance I could, in the past! I use to work some in a
friend's thrift shop, and, she wanted me to work the register some, but,
I bowed out and went to the back store room to do inventory and stock, instead!

It's almost time slip out of here - I managed to sneak onto a coworker's PC
while all is quiet. I'd better go lock up and make sure everything's shut down
for the night, cuz I'm homeward bound!

A quick hello to let you know I made the trip to IL. My father had some surgery but was up and around the second day. Nothing life-threatening at the moment, but because he had a very serious infection on New Year's Day with some serious challenges afterward, I thought I had best make the trip for his scheduled surgery.

He's a tough guy and is in great shape for his years...and so he battled the demons and seems to be winning. Anyway, it was a necessary trip and a good trip...and I'm glad to have gone in spite of the 5 degree temps I expereinced there yesterday morning.

I feel a gazillion miles away from most things going on here...so I won't even try right now to get caught up. Maybe as time allows. And IF time allows.

Well there Donna...how NEAT it is to go to OKC and the conference. Give my best to Tim Vasquez for me. We worked together on a couple things back in the 1980's....and I recently heard from him again. He will remember me from the Weather Observer days. He put together a very nice manual on weather observing for the International Weather Watchers. Maybe he'll have a copy with him!

You'll probably run into some of my other former partners in crime there too! Enjoy it all!

Hi all, hope everything is well for you and yours. It is raining here as I type, some much needed precipitation for sure given that we are at like 20% of normal for the season so far.

I have an appointment with a periodontist on Wednesday but I forget what time. Some think I may have periodontitis, due to me not brushing my teeth enough. Let's hope it works out.

Had a dr. appt. a few weeks ago to remove a small growth on the bottom of my nose. All is well now and AFAIK it is non cancerous. :)

Other than that not much is new here, just enjoying my new PC as well as our rainfall. Catch you all later! :)

I sure wish you all could come to the Workshop too. That would be awesome. Someday we'll have to seriously plan a get-together somewhere! :D

Steve, I'm so glad you made the trip "home" all safe and sound (and probably the only way you would ever get to experience 5º again! :cold: ), but most of all I'm happy to hear that your father is on the road to recovery. And of course I will give your regards to Tim this weekend and ask about the weather observing manual. It gives me an opportunity to name drop. You certainly have had a lot of "partners in crime" over the years. :shoot:

Weatherlover, Don't miss that appt tomorrow. Hope all goes well!

Donna, sounds like you're going to have a ball.
Steve, I know you are having a wonderful time with your Dad. Wish him well from all of us. Wear those earmuffs and goulashes and keep warm.

I'm going to get back out of here and get to work.
((HUGS)) to all
Karan

Eric, are you feeling better??

Hello ALL!! :D :D

Trying to get back with the living after a period of several days with a nasty sinus infection and a cough that doesnt seem to want to quit! My Mom and I went and saw Sawbones this afternoon and he gave each of us a 5 day antibiotic program...took my first 2 pills at 6 pm ET this evening and continue with 1 pill at 6 pm ET tomorrow through Monday. :)

Thank you ALL so VERY much for the prayers, thoughts and warm-wishes!! :D

I'll settle back now here at the Stove and have a cup of Earl Grey with my blanket over my knees until Survivor which will be on not too long from now. :)

Aww, Eric - your family has had a rough couple of days huh? Well, you settle in with that comfy blanket, some hot tea and enjoy Survivor. Somehow Survivor never looks so good as when you're warm on the couch! Especially when they're cold, hungry and dirty. Hey, they signed up for that show! Anyway, you take care now.

Donna - have a nice trip. I need to find trips like that. Being a recent stay at home mom myself, I didn't know of any outlets like that. Good for you! I do have that annual women's trip to Chicago with my SIL's, but it's rather expensive. A nice break though. Just different. What I find that I miss are my quiet 48 hour retreats. The retreat house I went to closed, they couldn't afford to keep it running. Apparently women our age are not interested in retreats anymore? Bummer, I always came home refreshed. Not that your workshop will equal a retreat, but maybe you'll come home refreshed too! Enjoy it.

I'm toying with giving up S2K for Lent. Gasp! Hear me out, so much time escapes when I sit down at this computer. And putzing around here is counter productive to what I need to focus on - spring cleaning, the never ending laundry, ironing, meals, etc. With working just mid-day hours, my entire routine is now changed. If I took a break, don't worry. I'll just pop in on Sunday (the day we treated ourselves to whatever we gave up!).

Hello everyone!! I never knew this forum existed until this evening...wow, I see some fellow TWCMB peoples, lol!

Hope to get to know everyone!! I recently moved from the frozen tundra of Connecticut to warm and sunny Tampa, Florida. Today it snowed in CT, lol! I feel like I am on vacation...sorta. I've been busy more so than not.

Have a good night!!

Shannon, why am I not surprised that anything that you are involved in wins a ribbon as the most outstanding????? You're alway doing your best. We're proud of you. ((HUGS))

Mary, Mary, Mary, you deserve a break. You're going to drive yourself crazy just working, working and working some more. PLEASE, don't give us up!!!!!! Don't say your giving us up for lent cause then you'll feel even worse if you don't. You might just say that you'll cut out 1/2 hour a day. Let's see that's 3 1/2 hours per week. That's 21 hours you have till Easter and I'm sure you can get all of your Spring cleaning done in that time and be in a much better frame of mind since you won't feel guilty of depriving us of you. Did that make sense????

Welcome Amy. I'm glad you found your way over here. Petal stops in every once in a while. The Snowman is also here. Sit back, have a cup of Earl Grey and warm yourself by this friendly stove.

Eric, I'm glad you went to the Dr. Sinus infections are nothing to mess with. This has been the worst winter for them. The drastic fluctuation in temps will do it every time.

Donna, hope you enjoy yourself.

Well folks, I'll brew a fresh pot of Earl Grey and leave some KK's on the stove. (Remember that the chocolate covered ones are for David) Eric, Granny's afhan is on the rocker. Snuggle up under that for a while. It'll make you feel warm and cozy.

As Eric would say, "have a fantastic Friday!!"
