How do you deal with this?

I get to work this morning, open my email and had a message that literally made me scream out in horror. Below is the story. Tyler was the son of one of my attorneys, and friends. I also work with Tyler's grandfather. Tyler visited us at the office just a couple of weeks ago. I cannot get the picture out of my mind, of his grandpa holding him, and the love I saw in Robin's eyes or the way Tyler looked at his grandpa. This baby was just so beautiful, with his little chipmunk cheeks. And then this horrible thing happens.

KENNER, La. -- A man is accused of being behind the wheel of a car involved in a hit-and-run death of a 14-month-old baby.

The baby was in his mother’s arms, when a Jeep Wrangler struck them.

OMG, that is truly so very tragic. There is no explanation for a tragedy like this. That family will never be the same.

That's so awful, Cindy! I'm so sorry! You just never know what will happen

Oh, Cindy, what a tragedy! Incidents like this are just incomprehensible. Prayers for comfort and peace go out for the family, as well as you and your co-workers. -- Diane

We had something like that happen here. A woman and her daughter and the daughter's best friend were driving on Combee Road toward I 4 when a commerical truck turned off Highway 33 toward Combee road and the woman T boned him. The two little girls were killed and the mother was critically injured. The truck she was driving was a Ford F150 and the engine compartment was pushed all the way back to the driver's door. She may lose her legs. The girls were only 7& 8 years old. The parents of the girl who was the best friend comes into the store where my daughter works. The entire staff of the store went to the child's viewing.

Yeah well, this jerk really did himself in. Because this family if VERY well know - Tyler's daddy and granddaddy are both attorneys - and you don't want to tangle with grandpa.

While I am sad about these stories happening they can be prevented. You have some drivers that just don't belong on the road. A good majority of the accidents that occur, occur because of driver negligence. Especially, when people flee, it is because they're scared and the "FIGHT or FLIGHT" syndrome take effect. I sure hope those families affected are mentally handling it because it can be tough.

This was a stolen vehicle - and in a Walmart parking lot. Erin was walking into the store with her child in her arms.

it is very sad. the same thing happened in Phoenix a few weeks ago. the little girl had survived being kidnapped by her mom's boyfriend (who murdered her grandparents and uncle) only to be mowed down by some idiot. they even got out to see what they hit, saw her and drove away.

i also had a friend who was carrying her toddler son across the way to the grocery store (in the store parking lot) and was mowed down by some old person who said she was sure they would stop when they saw her coming. the little guy died in his mother's arms right there. the old bag showed no remorse and insisted it was the mom's fault even though she was in a crosswalk and the lady was observed speeding through the parking lot.

i'm sorry for the loss of your friend's child and hope justice is done.

Here in California, we don't have too much trouble with the old folks driving, but it does happen. We mostly have trouble the the younger people who drive crazy or the drunks who think there in NASCAR. We just had an episode in Mullholland Drive regarding a Ferrari and an MB. I have been down that road and it is prime for racing.....
