Howard Stern accuses CBS of bullying, yada, yada, yada....

Howard Stern Claims CBS 'Bullying' Him

NEW YORK (AP) - Shock jock Howard Stern claimed that his former employer CBS Corp. is "bullying" him and threatening to sue him for financial damages.

Speaking at a hastily arranged news conference in New York Tuesday, Stern said CBS accused him of reaching a "secret agreement" with his new employer, Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., even though he disclosed it to CBS executives and discussed his intentions to move to Sirius on the air.

Stern also disputed CBS's claim that he caused them financial damages by discussing satellite radio on the air, saying it was a legitimate story about the media and helped lead to high ratings for his show and sold-out advertising time.

Stern and his lawyers indicated that no lawsuit had been filed yet.

CBS declined to make any comment.

Stern held the news conference after The New York Post's widely read gossip column Page Six published an item Tuesday saying CBS was on the verge of filing a lawsuit against Stern.

Stern moved his popular morning show to satellite radio last month after years of railing against decency restrictions imposed on terrestrial radio by the Federal Communications Commission.

CBS's radio division, CBS Radio, had formerly been known as Infinity Broadcasting. CBS Corp. split from Viacom Inc. at the beginning of the year.

He's an idiot. His ratings are probably hurting so he needs to do something to get some national attention.

I thought that I heard that Sirius ratings were not meeting expectations. So concoct a conspiracy to shift the blame to others.

There are not too many people that I dislike, but he is one of them. He is a crude slimeball.

I happen to like Howard, but I am young and I enjoy rude humor. I have Sirius and I listen to him on the way to work in the mornings. He has been through alot of crap before. He deserves a little credit. CBS and Viacom were idiots to him. Sirius is giving him a chance.

When you dish out a lot of CRAP and BS it's only fair if you get some right back at you. The "man" is a SLEEZE.

Isn't CBS the one who is initiating this lawsuit? If so how is it wrong for Howard Stern to say what he thinks about it?

Howard Stern has been through a lot of crap? i dont think so. he's a pompous, self-indulgent hack. he dishes out all kinds of verbal abuse but starts whining like an injured puppy (no offense to puppies) when someone dishes it back to him.

his sort of humor went out with Andrew Dice Clay. SO passe!

It's all show. he's just tryign to drum up listeners because Sirius Radio is seriously hurting. He wants to make sure they can make good on their $500 Million contract.

We'll have to wait and see whether or not Stern survives on Sirius, but CBS suing him is only helping him in the long run since he's being handed a platform to criticize CBS on. I suspect that CBS ultimately will lose this one.
