Funny you bring this up, skysummit. I've been looking, too, for a warming pattern, using ship reports. Don't see too much yet above 15N, but it's only a matter of time.

As Mark Sudduth said in another thread it's impressive indeed how La Nina has got a bit stronger and you can see very easy why by only looking at the graphic above.Let's see in the next 2-3 month how the anomalies do to see if La Nina will hang on by next summer or Neutral conditions dominate.

Here's a comparison of last year on 3/5/05 to today, 3/6/05. The images are in that order. It is a tad warmer in the gulf this year. Look closely at the coastline of the northern gulfcoast. It seems to be a whole degree or two warmer, especially along the Central Louisiana coast. Also the Florida Straights are warmer...but what I really notice is the western gulf. Look at the area due south of Lake Charles and Port Arthur. Is that another warm water eddy forming?

Those temperatures in the GOM are def. above average.. hate to see what they look like in a couple of months cause it looks like if those temperatures rise we are gonna have some problems in the gulf this year. I think it would just be a matter of time before a storm got in there or developed in there.
