drought conditions in Florida and the southern states
Here in South Florida its rained once in 3 months. Other then a spit here in there its been very dry probably caused by La Nina. The whole South from Southern California east towards Florida is dry the jet is running across the northern states and bypassing the south its normal for Florida to an extent, but 3000 miles of drought is not normal across the southern states.

yes, I wonder what that means...? I've also noticed hints of a strong E wind pattern trying to set up down here. There have been a few strings of days where we have seen strong E winds (15-25mph)....based on the cyclonic flow of a high located in a near-Bermuda like position. Last year I don't remember any of that. In fact the E wind pattern was virtually non-existent last summer.
Strong E winds mean less rainfall for S. Florida
I'm curious how it sets up in the next couple of months (stronger E winds => I'll look to the Atlantic for storms, weaker E winds => I'll look to the South and GOM)
Examples
2004 => Strong E wind pattern => Frances and Jeanne hit from the East
2005 => Weak E wind pattern => Katrina from the E (wasn't that strong) but strong Wilma from the SW.

Also, has anyone noticed that the only rain we have had recently has been from showers coming onshore from the Atlantic? This is typical of a fairly strong ridge pattern.
Yep, today (Sat.) saw a nice ENE wind at about 15-20 mph with scattered cumulous blowing in from the Atlantic. It looked alot like a summer-time ridge pattern setup today but with overall temps alot lower in the 70s. Up the temps about 15 degrees and it's August with a strong ridge in the Atlantic

Well, I certainly hope the drought ends and y'all get much needed rainfall; I just won't be among any who want a tropical event to be that which ends it... just a nice influx of moister air

I was working all day since I made this post but an interesting scenario that the Miami discussion made yesterday was that after Wednesday next week high pressure at the mid and upper levels will build across the Caribbean, Southern Gulf and Central and South Florida which means temps in the mid to upper 80's with no rainfall in sight. No only difference now is its still dry but realatively mild not hot.
