Did you try this? I know these are some powerful settings.

I've tried that too. All settings are at default so that couldn't be the problem.

did you end up trying to download (but not install) the windows update from MS website to the other computer and then burn the update onto a data disk and try to re-install it on the comp that is messed up?

If you go under the Internet Options>Security>Custom Level . . ., there's a lot about Java permissions and ActiveX settings there - that might be something if your IE isn't set to one of the default low-medium-high settings.

If that still isn't it, then I'd want to check out your graphics card.

Anyway I told my mom about the problem and she installed Service Pack 4. At first looked better but now has made a turn for the worse as Problems 1 and 2 are showing up more frequently, if not constantly when I'm visiting sites.

i forgot about those. i had a problem with mine at one point as well...took me the longest time to figure it out. :D
