Do you do eBay?

#1 Postby O Town » Fri Mar 10, 2006 2:20 pm

I have bought a few things prior to the past month from eBay, things I could not find anywhere else. Now this past month I guess you could say I have become an eBayaholic, with buying things. I am thinking about putting some things up for auction now, just curious how many other eBayers are out there.

i am an ebay fan too. I buy all my needlepoint there and 90% of my clothes too! where else can you get a beautiful Christian Dior suit for $11???

also a good place to buy collectibles. I bought almost all of my Anne Rice items there, to include a couple of her blouses....

i sell a lot too.

good for you because once you start, it's really tough to stop. it truly is as addictive as a real auction.

I count on that to make money from my auctions.

I have found many very good deals on ebay, but I refuse to get caught up in the competitive aspect of it. You can get burned that way. For instance, I buy most of my computer parts for upgrades used through ebay for fantastic deals. Often I turn around and sell the part I replaced with the upgrade for about the same amount that I bought the better "improved" part for. :D

the weird thing about ebay is how far folks will go just to win, when they can buy something new for a lot less..

Yeah, I've sold many used items where, after shipping is added, they could have gone to the store and bought the same item brand new for less.

I have noticed this myself. I also will only allow myself to go so high and make myself stop at the price, but I usually wait till the last minute to put in that price if it hasn't gone to high already. The exception I did make once was for this bike I really wanted and could not find them anywhere else, they don't make them anymore, and this one was in mint condition. And actually if bought new it would have been twice as much but I did go higher than I wanted. And so glad I did, its a sweet ride.

I bought some packing envolopes(the bigger ones) and I think I am about to take some pictures of my kids clothes and see what I get, they have some nice name brand things and some are barley worn. I have bought them quite a few things off there this month and I see what happens with some items, like you said people get so into winning they forget they can go to the store and buy new clothes for the same price. But if you know what your doing you can get some really great deals. The worlds biggest yard sale. I love it! :D

I always check the shipping charge before I buy and I also know the retail price of an item before I buy and only bid if I am getting a good deal.

Yep, yep!! :uarrow: I add the bidding price with the shipping and make sure I am getting a deal before I bid. :D Shipping can kill ya if you don't check, some are greedier than others.

We have bought almost all of our home improvement stuff from Ebay. All of our flooring, marcle and granite have come from Ebay!! I love it!! Tools especially! My fiance makes his wishlists and then we find them on ebay for a fraction of the cost (even when you add in shipping)

My son loves to look for certain video games and lego stuff on eBay (he will NEVER have my password, however LOL) and he has learned to check the shipping and feedback very carefully - I hate it when he sees an item priced at 1 cent, gets all excited, and I have to show him that they have the shipping set at $20.

Looking Around and not buying anything is my favorite thing to do on Ebay. I want to see which idiot bids $300 for a rubber band :ggreen:

I admit I'm an ebayaholic. I like the thrill of bidding, but I will give up before the bidding gets too high.I like the "BUY IT NOW" option :ggreen:

Beween my wife and me, we've made about 150 purchases. She gets mostly crafting materials. I buy out-of-production bike parts to keep my 21-year-old bike going. I don't have the option of getting stuff in stores. If I really need something, I have to outbid (or outsmart) the other bidder, or else wait until someone else is auctioning the item I need. I have to admit to slamming a couple bids in order to win. Since I got the cable modem, I can wait until about 4 seconds before an auction ends and submit a bid that's at the limit of what I'm willing to pay. I've won some this way when the other person hasn't offered a high-enough maximum bid, and doesn't have time to respond.
