It's going to get close to me. My digital camera is busted right now, or I would be trying to take a few pictures. Right now, I think it's just time to shut down some computers and brace for a loss of power very soon.

Tornado warning in the KC area...another just into nebraska...the atmosphere is very unstable and the fact we're seeing this right now has me concerned for this afternoon. Lots of big metropolitan areas will be under the gun today. Lets just hope its not a bad afternoon but with each passing update things look more probable for severe weather.

Im happy to see these severe storms across Kansas this morning, as thats part of the area I outlined as being in the highest severe threat yesterday. SPC has already started to bring the moderate risk westward, and I am still confident that my outlook will verify nicely. I nailed yesterdays event.

But I do thinkthe tornado threat may extend further north and east than I did outline, as in SPCs high risk area. Every tornado parameter seems to be in place just perfectly today.

I picked up a couple of hail stones (it only lasted about 90 seconds). Mostly pea/dime size, up to a couple of near golf ball size (maybe around walnut size) at my apartment complex. Hefty wind.

Up north, much more intense. Apparently, the airport (KCI) has got some power outages.

Yeah, already 6 reports of hail 2 inches or larger, thats just amazing. Classic elevated supercells.

But this evening the storms should become surface based with even bigger hail.

Another note.....it hasn't been exactly warm this morning. I mean, it was like 40-45F when I woke up at 7am. Must be some really intense stuff happening up in that atmosphere for this to occur.

Classic hook echo in Ray County, MO right now with large hail. Tornado warning out for that county as well.

I think that the area of high risk is much larger than that.
