My main desktop at home is a 6 year old computer that I assembled myself. I have bene upgrading it piece by piece for a while. Currently it has an AMD Athlon XP 1.4 GHZ processor, 1 GB RAM, a 60 GB hard drive and an 80 GB hard drive. I'd rate it a 7 right now. When I upgrade the processor and motherboard again it will be a 10. I also recently bought an Acer laptop with an AMD Sempron 2.0 GHZ processor, 40 GB hard drive, and 1 GB RAM and I'd rate it a 9.

So this is an unscientific rating based on our perception? I give our #1 computer a 2.1 and our #2 computer a 2.0.
Here's a question that has been keeping me up at night. Which SOUNDS better:
500 MHZ, 256 MB RAM
or
0.5 GHZ 0.256 GB RAM?
I make up for the hardware shortcomings by writing incredibly intelligent posts like this one.

I don't have a home computer...even if I did, it's not connected to the internet.
The old Gateway computers the Irving Public Library had since 2002 has a rating of a 5, because the screens are warped and the startup takes forever. Even when they upgraded them from a Windows NT to Windows XP, they're still crappy. They're all replaced with the latest Dell computers (with flat LCD Screens and Windows XP) which has a rating of a 10.
The Budget Suites Cyber Cafe's computers (made be Samsung loaded with Windows XP) also has a rating of a 10.

Lets see...where to start...
The big blue machine - my home PC - 9.5
G4 Powermac Desktop - wife's work PC - 9
IBM Thinkpad - 7.5
Dell Latitude D600 - my work connection laptop - 9.0
Thats just the functioning ones. I have a pile of spare and broken down pieces that I can take some working pieces off of in the spare bedroom. Think the pile currently has 4 on it right now. One has a burned out motherboard...2 are missing hard drives and various other pieces of hardware...and the 4th is my wifes old work Mac. I need to find out how the township where I live disposes all PC's so I can get rid of the junk.

About to be a 10!
Finally, after having waited a week since it arrived (and walking around the boxes to get through my living room), I have a morning off and a couple of hours to set up my new baby (a Dell E510) and I'm sure it'll be a 10!
The old one is a 6 - (probably only because DSL made it seem so much better). But Win98 really has to go!!!
That's gotta say a lot about a person's S2K addiction -- they log in first on their old computer before patiently setting up their new one!
Well, enough about that. Here I gooooooo!!!!!!!

Zoooooooooooooooooooooom!!!!!!!!!
Definitely a 10!
Had a bit of a prob getting my DSL software to load from the CD, but the tech support at SBC...er, excuse me...now they are AT&T/Yahoo DSL got me connected with the wizard on the computer.
Still haven't played with all the fun stuff yet. I'll probably be up all night tonight searching all the stuff.
