This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

does anyone have the same name as a destructive hurricane? if so, say your name, the hurricane name :), what year it was, the intensity, and what it did. :)

Nope. Came close though. Andrew in 1992 was a very late first storm. Guess what the 2nd storm would have been? Bonnie. My name. SO lucky that Andrew was the name.

I have a brother called David and struck just weeks before I was born. I always thought that was funny in a ironic way

Not even close to Andrew, but a Bonnie hit us directly in 1986. She wreaked some havoc, dumping a lot of rain that flooded homes and businesses, destroying mobile home parks, downing countless tress, signs, fences, and tree limbs, and some of the trees landed on homes. High winds ripped the roofs off of numerous homes and businesses, etc. etc. etc. But nothing even remotely close to what Rita did here.

Since Bonnie is your name, I figured I'd let you know what it did around here and that it's been mentioned around here occasionally since then. But now...daily...it's just Rita Rita Rita. Every day. All the time... always dealing with something Rita related or hearing about it. And less than 2 months till the threat starts again...unreal. Seems like yesterday! And many places still look like the hurricane hit yesterday, while others have or are working on their repairs. The next door neighbor on my left has gotten most repairs done, including his roof! The one on the right has had construction workers there for several weeks. Before Rita, I wouldn't have even known this because I literally could not see their house due to the woods between our houses which served as a giant privacy border to me. Now I can read their grocery list as they get into their car! Nearly ALL of the trees separating our houses...gone. I'm still not used to that. It looks soooo weird. My house...I have scattered repairs done, but still have some major structure flaws that I hate to talk about on the internet so I'll leave it at that but apparently my whole house is out of whack, unfortunately the insurance company is very "optimistic" on the cost of this  meanwhile my windows are being crushed out of the house, if that makes any sense. And I still need my roof done, along with other things including a garage door replaced, etc. What thread is this? I think I'm getting off topic. I'll shut up now.

No destructive hurricanes named after me that I know of.

if Andrew had occurred today, it would have been Bonnie as Andrew would have been the April subtropical cyclone

This could be close?

Typhoon Kelly
A tropical disturbance organized into a tropical depression east of the Philippines on June 28. It tracked westward, reaching tropical storm on the 30th before hitting the central Philippines. Kelly weakened over the islands, but restrengthened in the South China Sea, attaining typhoon status on July 2. The typhoon hit southern Hainan Island on the 3rd, crossed the Gulf of Tonkin as a weakening tropical storm, and made landfall on northern Vietnam on the 4th as a 40 mph tropical storm. Kelly dissipated the next day, after causing torrential flooding and mudslides, resulting in 200 casualties and leaving thousands homeless.

Well...it seems I have a windy alter-ego after all...
Super Typhoon Yuri was the most powerful storm during the 1991 season, with winds reaching up to 150 knots (278 km/h), and a minimum recorded pressure of 885 mbar. This made Yuri the third most intense tropical cyclone on record at the end of 1991; it now ranks as the 11th most powerful. Yuri caused extensive damage to southern Guam, and significant damage to Pohnpei and Rota.

Not yet, but my name is on the 2007 list. We'll see if Karen does anything then.
