Name the Unnamed Subtropical Storm
Still we don't know it's intensity, neither its path, but this unnamed subtropical storm is already raising lots of expectations. I had the idea of here in Storm2k for our convenience to start thinking about a name for this system instead of just calling it the unnamed subtropical storm. I think everyone could come with a name and explain why it will fit the storm. Then we could make a thread in which their will be a poll with all the names proposed and we could vote. Then a second thread could be made, if necessary, with the top five names from which a name will be selected!
I went to the mystical side of things and came with the name Eurus.
Now, why Eurus?
1. Eurus is the god of the east wind in Greek Mythology.
2. This system, as confirmed by James Franklin from the NHC, formed over the eastern Atlantic Ocean.
3. Where this system formed, the westerlies move from west to east.
4. Eurus sound like Europe and this unnamed system formed very close to Europe.
5. In the Greek mythology, Eurus lived in a cave which sounds like hidden, which is exactly what this storm has been from the public for a few months!
Now it's your turn to come up with a name and don't let this poor system go unnamed!

Judging from Derek's post, "Had it have been named, the first Greek name would have been the most intense ever. Wilma would have been Alpha", I think he knows what the unnamed storm was and when it formed. So, again, judging from his post, it would have come right after Vince, which places the storm between October 9th and October 17th.

Dr. Jonah Rainwater wrote:Ick, I never liked the Subtropical Storms. If a storm is so unnoteworthy that the NHC never even realized it existed...and this in a season that saw a name get used on Lee...is it really worth going through all this trouble to classify post-mortem?
According to James Franklin, they noticed this system operationally, but it was though to be a non-tropical system. Now they have been able to go back and analyse all the systems closely and have realize that this system had enough organization to be considered subtropical. Therefore, it should also be counted and respected as much as any other tropical cyclone in the '05 season.

Hi Fact, the difference here is this one may be upgraded outside of the season therefore you can't really slot it in like that while STD-22 formed while the season was in progress, hence no problem.
