Looks like a rough night ahead for us in Alabama

#1 Postby beachbum_al » Mon Mar 20, 2006 7:58 pm

We just went under a Tornado Watch until 1am. It keeps popping up on my computer. It is very eerie outside. I just started the grill and there is just a strange feeling outside. I hope it is not what is about to come tonight. It is windy here and very muggy. There is a line coming in from MS.

Been rough the last 30 minutes here as well... frequent lightning and torrential rain. I'm JUST outside the Tornado Watch but I'm getting the northern side of the storms that are severe in the county below me.

Auburn in Lee County just reported an 85 mph wind gust...

AT 740 PM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING PENNY SIZE
HAIL...AND DESTRUCTIVE WINDS 75 TO 90 MPH...WHICH CAN BREAK LARGE
LIMBS...PUSH OVER SHALLOW ROOTED TREES...PARTIALLY UNROOF
BUILDINGS...DESTROY STRUCTURES AND MAKE DRIVING EXTREMELY
HAZARDOUS.

THESE STORMS PRODUCED 85 MPH WINDS AS THEY MOVED THROUGH THE AUBURN
AND OPELIKA AREA.

My best friend lives there. Thanks for reporting this. I am going to call her in 10 minutes when my cellphone goes to nights. She called earlier but I was not able to get to the phone.
