If I were Mr. Bush, I'd clean up my own country first and worry about what might happen in 4 or 5 months :wink: .. Still, a nice gesture ..

It's normal for countries to offer help in an emergency situation to another country. Fidel Castro offered his help and had thousands of doctors ready to go to help after Katrina, but of course the US said no.

That looks like lower in cat4 damage. If that was a cat5 that church would be gone in nothing woudl be standing.

Matt they said it was a 5 on the australian scale

P.K worked it out that it was a 4 on the Saffir Simpson scale with equivilancy

Mid cat 4 yes if the Innisfail reading is confirmed. I have to say though I highly doubt that sampled the strongest part of the storm, and given the estimated central pressure and the lack of recon it may well have been higher.

For norhtern hurricanes the stronger part is usually the NE. So, for a southern cyclone the stronger part is the SE?
