James Hansen - Global Warming
I'm not claiming to be an expert on Global Warming, but after reading James Hansen articles, is hard to disregard his position on Global Warming. He is highly regarded by the scientific community and the Bush Administration wants to keep a lid on his views. Some of the articles are sensationalized, but some of his predictions don't seem to be that far fetched. Google: James Hansen

Although I am not on the Bush Administrations side I must agree here if you are going to say they are putting a lid on him you need to have proof to follow your allegations.

With regard to the global warming part of the article, this is very interesting and it has been all over the news and radio talk shows in my area. I think scientist need to decide whether this is a pattern / cycle or if it is global warming. Since our data does not go back very far, who knows??!! I have mixed feelings on this issue.

Scientists have come to a consensus that global warming is indeed happening. Only certain people try to deny the undeniable reality. The controversy is over what is causing it and what we can do to either reverse it or at least mitigate its effects.

Global warming...
What ever happened to the scientists backed theory that ozone depletion (a big factor in global warming) was caused by flatulence from Australian sheep?..No joke,folks..I read this in many scientific magazines..

I think it would be wrong to ignore the obvious institionalized effort to screen and filter global warming information. I read an article about this in the New York Times and saw a piece on it on "60 Minutes".
There's no doubt an overt effort to restraint pure global warming information is ongoing by the official mainstream authorities involved in relaying accurate information on the subject. I don't think "his information was not blocked" or other such quotes accurately address the real barriers that are being set up by those in charge of dealing with it.
In the Times article one of Hansen's supervisor's was quoted as saying "I'm only interested in making Bush look good."

Ozone depletion has nothing to do with global warming. Methane emissions have nothing to do with ozone depletion, but it could contribute to global warming.

Not to sure why you would say this. Ozone levels are related to stratospheric temperatures. Temperatures in the stratosphere will have an effect upon the phases in the NAO and the AO. These are two very important teleconnections in the northern hemisphere. Their phases then effect our temperature patterns.

IMHO it is realistic to turn to space for manhy of our necessary resources, we have not in fact advanced enough to put large numbers of people into space indefinitely.
