AUSTRALIAN BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING
CENTRE PERTH AT 0138UTC 26 MARCH 2006
AMENDED
STORM WARNING FOR THE WESTERN AREA

Please be aware, wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the
averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

SITUATION
At 0000UTC Severe Tropical Cyclone Floyd relocated to within 20 nautical miles
of
Latitude nineteen decimal one South [19.1S]
Longitude one hundred and twelve decimal two South [112.2E]
Recent movement : east southeast at 6 knots.
Maximum winds : 55 knots.
Central pressure : 972 hPa.


AREA AFFECTED
Within 70 nautical miles of the centre.


FORECAST
Sustained winds to 55 knots near centre decreasing to 35 knots by 27/0000UTC.
Within 30 nautical miles of centre winds above 48 knots until 26/12000UTC with
high seas and moderate to heavy swell.
Within 70 nautical miles of centre winds above 34 knots with very rough seas and
moderate to heavy swell.

At 1200UTC 26 March: 20.2 south 112.7 east
Central pressure 984 hPa
Winds to 45 knots near centre.
At 0000UTC 27 March: 21.0 south 113.0 east
Central pressure 990 hPa
Winds to 35 knots near centre.

This amendment issued to re-position the system and cancel the hurricane warning
as new data indicates TC Floyd has weakened below hurricane intensity.

Next warning issued by 0700 UTC 26 March 2006.
